Apple TV has released a first look at the fifth season of the space drama For All Mankind, and the official release date has now been announced. The series has been one of Apple TV's most important original productions for years and has garnered critical and audience acclaim worldwide. Season five continues the alternate history of space exploration.
„"For All Mankind" blends science fiction, political drama, and personal storytelling. Since its first season, the series has explored how the world would have unfolded if the space race had taken a different turn. Apple TV uses the fifth season to further develop this scenario, placing a stronger focus on Mars and its growing importance.
Start date and broadcast
The fifth season of "For All Mankind" premieres worldwide on Apple TV on Friday, March 27. The new season consists of ten episodes. The first episode will be released, followed by a new episode every Friday until May 29. This weekly release schedule remains unchanged.
Plot and temporal context
The fifth season picks up several years after the so-called Goldilocks asteroid theft. The Mars settlement of Happy Valley has changed dramatically during this time. From a research station, it has become a functioning colony with thousands of inhabitants. At the same time, Happy Valley now serves as a base for new missions that will take them even further into the solar system.
However, as the colony grows, new conflicts arise. The nations of Earth increasingly demand control, laws, and clear responsibilities on the Red Planet. This exacerbates tensions between the people living on Mars and their former home on Earth. This very conflict between autonomy and control forms a central theme of the new season.

Casting of the fifth season
The regular cast for the fifth season includes Joel Kinnaman, Toby Kebbell, Edi Gathegi, Cynthy Wu, Coral Peña, and Wrenn Schmidt. The ensemble is joined by new series regulars: Mireille Enos, known from "The Killing" and "Hanna"; Costa Ronin from "The Americans" and "Homeland"; Sean Kaufman from "The Summer I Turned Pretty"; Ruby Cruz from "Bottoms"; and Ines Asserson from "Royalteen." This expands and rejuvenates the cast.
Creative responsibility and production
"For All Mankind" was developed by Ronald D. Moore, Matt Wolpert, and Ben Nedivi. Moore is an Emmy Award winner, and Wolpert and Nedivi have been nominated for multiple Emmys. Wolpert and Nedivi serve as showrunners and executive producers alongside Moore, Maril Davis of Tall Ship Productions, Kira Snyder, David Weddle, Bradley Thompson, and Seth Edelstein. The series is produced by Sony Pictures Television for Apple TV.
