The Vision Pro Travel Case is disappearing in many countries

Apple is apparently quietly withdrawing the Vision Pro Travel Case from numerous international markets, including Germany. The $199 accessory (€219) has completely disappeared from many online stores, while the Vision Pro software platform has just received a major update.

While Apple is rolling out fresh features for its Vision Pro headset with visionOS 27, demonstrating that the Vision Pro software platform is still going strong, a contrasting trend is emerging on the hardware side. The official travel case for the Vision Pro has disappeared from Apple's online store in a number of countries. Since Apple hasn't made any official announcement, this development can only be observed on the storefronts – and they paint a fairly clear picture.

Travel cases have disappeared from many countries

The Apple Vision Pro Travel Case is no longer listed in several international stores, including those in the UK, Japan, Germany, France, Ireland, and Hong Kong. In these countries, the case no longer appears on the Vision Pro accessories page, nor do the associated product pages exist – they have been completely removed. This suggests that the product has been discontinued with no plans to reintroduce it there.

In China and Australia, the listings are still visible, but the case is grayed out and can no longer be ordered. In the USA, Canada, and the United Arab Emirates, however, the accessory continues to be sold normally. It is unclear exactly when the changes were made; they appear to have occurred very recently.

The Belkin bag remains an alternative

Those in the affected markets looking for a transport solution for the headset aren't entirely on their own: The Belkin Travel Bag for the Apple Vision Pro remains available internationally, effectively replacing Apple's own case. Apple has not yet announced any official changes to the availability of the original product.

Part of a larger withdrawal at Vision Pro

This move fits into a pattern where Apple appears to be noticeably scaling back its ambitions surrounding the Vision Pro. The October 2025 model update with the M5 chip reportedly failed to revive consumer interest, especially since the price remained unchanged at $3,499 despite the faster chip. Apple is said to have sold approximately 600,000 Vision Pro units to date; sources also point to an unusually high return rate compared to other recent Apple products.

Following the weak reception of the M5 model, the Vision Pro team was reportedly disbanded and its members reassigned to other projects. Mike Rockwell, head of the Vision Products Group, has been leading the Siri team since March 2025. Plans for a cheaper and lighter "Vision Air" were reportedly scrapped in October 2025. Mark Gurman stated that a new headset - if it were to be released at all - could not be expected for at least two years, given the developers who had been reassigned.

What remains of Apple's headset plans

Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo reported this month that Apple's designated CEO, John Ternus, has approved the cancellation of both a second Vision Pro and the Vision Air. The focus is now on smart glasses. According to Kuo, two products are still in development: AI-powered glasses to rival Meta's Ray-Ban models, expected in 2027, and AR glasses with a display, unlikely to be released before 2029.

Gurman, in turn, suggested that a slimmer and cheaper Vision Pro remains a possibility in the long term, but probably won't hit the market before the end of 2028 or 2029. The short-term outlook for Apple's mixed reality hardware is therefore subdued.

A small accessory with a big impact

Taken on its own, the disappearance of a transport case is a minor detail. However, in a broader context, this quiet discontinuation can hardly be interpreted as anything other than further evidence of the uncertain future of the Vision Pro. Whether it's a complete shutdown or simply a quiet sell-off of remaining stock remains unclear – but the pattern fits a product whose future development Apple is apparently reorganizing.
