Apple has released the second beta version of iOS 26.2. iPadOS 26.2, macOS 26.2 ("Tahoe"), watchOS 26.2, tvOS 26.2, and visionOS 26.2 are also available to developers at the same time. This new test version continues the ongoing development cycle.
The specific changes included in Beta 2 are not yet known. We will report on them separately as soon as new details become available.
Start of the second beta phase
With the release of the second beta, Apple is entering the next phase of iOS 26.2 development. After the feature-rich start in Beta 1, the focus is now likely on fine-tuning, bug fixes, and preparing further features that could be activated during the testing phase.
Experience shows that early intermediate versions primarily serve to test system stability and evaluate feedback from the developer community. The integration of Apple Intelligence is also likely to be further tested, particularly with regard to language support and regional releases.
Looking back: What iOS 26.2 Beta 1 brought
The first beta of iOS 26.2 brought a whole host of visible new features that expanded and refined the system in many areas. The focus was on new personalization options, improved structure in system apps, and functions that enhance everyday use and usability.
One of the most noticeable changes concerned the lock screen: The new Liquid Glass slider allows users to individually adjust the transparency of the time display – from almost transparent to heavily tinted. This allows for more precise matching with background images and lighting conditions.
Apple introduced an option in the Reminders app to add an audible alarm to reminders. Instead of a silent notification, an alarm tone now sounds – depending on the settings – which cannot be missed.
The Freeform app also received a significant update: For the first time, tables can be created and freely positioned on the workspace. This makes the app better suited for structured planning or teamwork.
Apple has integrated a new sharing option for WhatsApp Status into its Apple Music app. Song lyrics can now be shared directly as visual status updates – similar to Spotify. The feature is still in the testing phase but will be gradually rolled out.
The podcast app received three enhancements: automatic chapter generation, direct display of mentioned podcasts in the transcript, and a new "From this episode" overview with all external links. These changes provide better orientation and context.
Furthermore, iOS 26.2 Beta 1 brought improvements to AirDrop, including hints of future PIN-based pairing for 30 days, a revised sleep score in watchOS 26.2, and live translation with AirPods, which will finally launch in the EU in December. Other minor changes affected the Weather app, Apple News, notifications, and accessibility features such as the new screen flashing for incoming messages.
Outlook for the coming weeks
With the second beta, Apple is likely focusing on fine-tuning the software. Minor visual adjustments, stability improvements, and preparation for the final release are the main priorities. Visible changes could become known soon, once developers have thoroughly examined the new version.
The second public beta is expected soon. If Apple follows its current schedule, the release candidate should appear in early December, followed by the final rollout between December 9th and 16th, 2025.
iOS 26.2 Beta 2: Fine-tuning and preparation for release
Although no new features are currently known, iOS 26.2 Beta 2 continues its established course. After a beta phase with numerous detailed improvements, the focus is now on optimization and stability. New features will be documented separately as soon as they are discovered.
The update reinforces Apple's strategy of continuously refining existing systems rather than fundamentally changing them – with a focus on everyday usability, reliability, and the ongoing integration of Apple Intelligence.
