After a relatively quiet start to the year, Apple is entering a significantly more active phase. According to a recent Bloomberg report, Apple plans to unveil more than five new products in the coming weeks. The focus will be on several new Macs and Mac-related hardware. Furthermore, new iPhone and iPad models are also nearing their market launch. This signals a period in which Apple will update almost all of its major product categories.
The information comes from Mark Gurman, a longtime journalist at Bloomberg. He reports that Apple will unveil several new Macs "over the next few weeks". He had previously stated that the new MacBook Pro models are expected to be released as part of the macOS 26.3 cycle. A product announcement is "likely to be made as early as the week of March 2nd".
Additionally, it is now being said that Apple is "preparing an event for next month". A specific date has not yet been officially confirmed, but the indications are mounting that the announcements are imminent.
New Macs and Mac hardware at a glance
The planned releases will focus on several new Mac models as well as external hardware for the Mac ecosystem.
Affordable MacBook with A18 Pro chip
Particularly noteworthy is a new, affordable MacBook with an A18 Pro chip. This model is said to:
- a display that is slightly smaller than 13 inches
- available in various color variations
- it will be priced below the previous MacBook line.
The use of the A18 Pro chip is noteworthy, as this chip is from Apple's own chip design and is primarily known from the iPhone. This move could allow Apple to offer a powerful yet more attractively priced notebook.
M5 MacBook Air
A new MacBook Air with an M5 chip is also expected. According to reports, this will likely be a minor upgrade. Major design changes or comprehensive new developments are not currently anticipated. Instead, the focus is expected to be on updating the processor.
New MacBook Pro models with M5 Pro and M5 Max
Following the introduction of the base M5 model last fall, the more powerful variants are now set to follow. The following are planned:
- MacBook Pro with M5 Pro
- MacBook Pro with M5 Max
These models complement the existing product line and are traditionally aimed at professional users. The update follows the release of the already launched M5 base model and thus completes the new chip generation within the MacBook Pro lineup.
New external displays for Mac
In addition to its laptops, Apple is apparently also working on at least one new external display for the Mac. The new display is said to:
- offer a higher refresh rate
- deliver improved image quality
Apple has historically been relatively reserved in its external Mac display offerings. A new model with technical improvements would specifically strengthen this product category.
More Apple products in the pipeline
In addition to the Mac-related announcements, Apple is reportedly planning several other new products.
- iPhone 17e: The iPhone 17e is expected to be released soon. Details regarding its specifications are not provided in the report, but the model is described as a separate addition to the iPhone lineup.
- New iPad base model: The regular iPad base model is also receiving an update. Apple is thus continuing its regular updates to its tablet line.
- M4 iPad Air: An iPad Air with an M4 chip is also expected. This will give this product line a more powerful processor generation as well.
Apple is planning a major product rollout in the coming weeks
According to Bloomberg, Apple is poised for a major product launch. In the coming weeks, several new Macs, updated MacBook Pro models with the M5 Pro and M5 Max chips, an M5 MacBook Air, a budget-friendly MacBook with the A18 Pro chip, and new external displays are expected to be unveiled. The lineup will be rounded out by the iPhone 17e, a new entry-level iPad, and an M4 iPad Air.
After a quiet start to the year, everything points to an intense period with numerous product launches. If the schedule holds true, Apple will present concrete details at an event either during the week of March 2nd or later in the month. (Image: Shutterstock / Solarisys)
