A yet-to-be-announced iPad Pro with the M5 chip has surfaced in a leaked unboxing video on YouTube. The device offers the first glimpse into what the next generation of Apple's high-end tablet might look like and what technical innovations it might bring.
The video was published by the Russian channel Wylsacom. The account is no stranger to the scene: Last year, it published footage of the 14-inch MacBook Pro with the M4 chip, even before Apple officially unveiled the model. Therefore, the likelihood that this is a real device is high.
First impressions from the unboxing
The iPad Pro shown in the video comes in a 13-inch format, offers 256 GB of storage, and features a Space Black finish. Externally, there are no noticeable differences from the current M4 models. The back still features only a single camera, and the Smart Connector is also retained. At first glance, Apple isn't opting for a new design, but rather a technological advancement on the inside.
M5 chip and performance
The new M5 chip is the key upgrade. A benchmark result from Geekbench 6 shows that multi-core performance is up to 12 percent higher than the M4 chip. Like its predecessor, the CPU consists of nine cores: three performance cores and six efficiency cores. There's also a significant difference in RAM. While the 256 GB version of the iPad Pro with the M4 chip only has 8 GB of RAM, the M5 model has 12 GB. This puts it on par with the iPhone Air and the new iPhone 11 Pro models.
Software and Production
The device runs iPadOS 26. The system settings also show that the built-in battery was manufactured in August 2025. This suggests a very recent model and suggests that Apple is preparing for its market launch.
Expected market launch
It's likely that Apple will unveil the iPad Pro with the M5 chip in October. A release within this timeframe would fit the company's usual product strategy.
iPad Pro with M5 chip: More RAM and better performance
The leaked iPad Pro with the M5 chip paints a clear picture of the next generation. The design remains familiar, but under the hood, Apple is adding more power and additional RAM. Combined with iPadOS 26, the new model is expected to once again set standards in the premium segment.
