Apple's iPhone event is behind us, but the rumors keep circulating. The tech world is currently speculating whether another event will be held in October. History has shown that Apple doesn't hold an event every October. Nevertheless, there's a lot to suggest that Apple won't be filling the fall of 2025 with just a few quiet press releases.
Apple has established a clearly recognizable rhythm in recent years: Some products are launched directly via press release, without a big announcement, while others are unveiled at an event. New chip generations, in particular, play a central role. Whether an October 2025 event takes place depends largely on how Apple handles the M5 chip.
Review: Apple in October
A look at the last few years shows a mixed picture:
- 2021: Event featuring the 14- and 16-inch MacBook Pro models with M1 Pro and M1 Max, the AirPods 3, and new colors for the HomePod mini.
- 2022: No event, but several press releases on the same Tuesday about the iPad Pro with M2, iPad 10, and third-generation Apple TV 4K.
- 2023: Event featuring MacBook Pro models with M3, M3 Pro, and M3 Max, as well as iMac with M3 chip.
- 2024: Again, no event, but instead three press releases over three days. MacBook Pros with M4, M4 Pro, and M4 Max, iMacs with M4, and Mac minis with M4 and M4 Pro chips were presented.
The patterns are clear: When it comes to completely new chip generations, Apple generally prefers the big stage.
Possible announcements in October 2025
Rumors strongly suggest that Apple plans to unveil new devices with the M5 chip in 2025. These announcements could necessitate an event.
iPad Pro with M5
The M5 chip is expected to once again set standards in performance and efficiency. It will also feature two front-facing cameras optimized for both photos and video calls in both portrait and landscape modes.
Vision Pro with M5
The Vision Pro is also expected to receive an update. A faster M4 or even the new M5 chip, a redesigned headband for greater comfort, and possibly a Space Black color option are under discussion.
More Apple products in the pipeline
In addition to the iPad Pro and Vision Pro, there are rumors about other devices:
- MacBook Pro: Models with M5, M5 Pro, and M5 Max chips will go into production soon, but a market launch is expected in early 2026. It's exciting to note that Apple is planning major innovations for subsequent generations, such as OLED touchscreens and thinner chassis.
- Apple TV: A new model is expected to come with the A17 Pro, plus support for Apple Intelligence, Wi-Fi 7, and possibly an integrated FaceTime camera.
- HomePod mini: Likely with S9 or newer chip, better sound, second-generation Ultra Wideband, Wi-Fi 7, and new color options like red.
- AirTag: Plans include a range up to three times greater, a tamper-proof speaker, and warnings when the battery is very low.
- Studio Display: A mini-LED backlit upgrade is expected, but not until late 2025 or early 2026.
- Affordable MacBook: Rumors point to a model with the A18 Pro or A19 Pro, also for late 2025 or early 2026.
How likely is an event in October 2025?
The evidence suggests that Apple isn't just releasing press releases this time. A completely new chip like the M5 is more suited to a major event, especially since several important products are affected. This move would bring the iPad Pro and Vision Pro, in particular, the attention Apple usually secures through a stage.
Will Apple actually hold an event in October 2025?
An October event hasn't been confirmed yet, but there are strong indications that Apple will use this date again in 2025. With an M5 chip in the iPad Pro and possibly also in the Vision Pro, there are ample reasons for a presentation. Macs with the M5 probably won't follow until early 2026, but the fall should still be exciting. This increases the likelihood that Apple won't settle for quiet press releases this year, but will instead organize another major event.
