The AirPods Pro 3 are finally here, and after two generations, they bring a host of innovations. Around six years have passed since the first AirPods Pro were introduced in 2019. During this time, Apple has gradually evolved the headphones. The third generation demonstrates just how significant the difference has become between the original AirPods Pro and today's models.

When Apple introduced the first AirPods Pro in 2019, they were considered the benchmark for wireless in-ears with active noise cancellation. Three years later, the second generation arrived, improving many features but not taking a completely new direction. With the AirPods Pro 3, Apple is now going significantly further: They not only offer longer battery life and better noise cancellation, but also features that extend headphones far beyond their traditional purpose.

Four times better noise cancellation

The AirPods Pro 3 offer four times the active noise cancellation of the AirPods Pro 1. This makes the difference especially noticeable in noisy environments. This technology is complemented by new foam-filled ear tips that provide a tighter fit and improve comfort.

New functions in everyday life

In addition to better sound and improved noise control, the AirPods Pro 3 offer a whole host of features missing from the first generation. These include the ability to adjust the volume directly from the stems by swiping, a U2 chip in the charging case to quickly locate the earbuds if lost, and adaptive audio that automatically adjusts noise cancellation to the environment. Charging options have also been modernized: The case supports USB-C and can even be used with an Apple Watch charger. There's also improved sweat and dust resistance and personalized spatial audio.

More endurance in everyday life

Battery life has noticeably improved. While the AirPods Pro 1 lasted about 4.5 hours with active noise cancellation, the AirPods Pro 3 manage up to 8 hours in ANC mode and up to 10 hours in Transparency mode. Even with the heart rate monitor activated, the battery life is still 6.5 hours. This allows you to listen to music or make phone calls for significantly longer without having to recharge.

Focus on health

A key upgrade is the integration of health features. The AirPods Pro 3 feature a heart rate monitor that reliably records workout data without an Apple Watch and works directly with Apple Fitness and Apple Fitness+. They also offer hearing protection in all listening modes, protecting your hearing in noisy environments. As an additional option, the AirPods Pro 3 can also be used as a medical hearing aid, including a personalized fitting test. While hearing protection and hearing aid features were already available in the AirPods Pro 2, the heart rate monitor is exclusive to the AirPods Pro 3.

Real-time translation

Another feature that can make everyday life easier is Live Translation. It allows you to have real-time conversations with people who speak a foreign language. The AirPods listen, translate, and play it back instantly. When combined with an iPhone app, your own answer is also translated and displayed on the screen. This feature isn't limited to AirPods Pro 3, but is also available with AirPods Pro 2 and AirPods 4 with noise cancellation. However, for users of the first AirPods Pro, it represents a completely new experience.

  • Important: In Europe, the function remains blocked for the time being until legal issues are resolved.

AirPods Pro 3: The biggest upgrade yet

The AirPods Pro 3 mark the biggest leap forward in development since the series' launch. They offer four times better noise cancellation, twice the battery life, modern controls and charging options, and features that go beyond the traditional use of headphones. Health features such as heart rate monitoring, hearing protection, and hearing aid functions significantly expand the benefits. Live Translation adds a practical tool that breaks down language barriers. Anyone still using the AirPods Pro 1 will experience a whole new level of technology and everyday usability with the AirPods Pro 3.
