Apple is shaping up to be an exceptionally busy year for new products. Rumors and supply chain reports suggest that more than 20 new devices could be released. The majority of these are updates to existing products. However, the five completely new Apple products expected in 2026 are truly exciting. They clearly demonstrate the technological and strategic direction Apple is taking.
Apple is known for approaching new product categories late but strategically. Instead of rapid market launches, the focus is on integration, reliability, and long-term usability. This pattern is also evident in the new products expected this year. The emphasis is less on experimentation and more on products that seamlessly integrate into the existing Apple ecosystem and open up new usage scenarios.
iPhone Fold
After years of speculation, Apple's first foldable smartphone is apparently nearing its market launch. The iPhone Fold is expected to have a book-like, foldable design. When unfolded, the device is wider than it is tall, clearly distinguishing it from traditional smartphones.
The outer display is expected to measure approximately 5.3 inches, while the inner display will be around 7.7 inches. A key innovation is the virtually crease-free display, which is intended to solve one of the biggest problems of previous foldable devices.
The frame is made of titanium. Visually, the device resembles two iPhone Airs stacked on top of each other, but is even thinner. When unfolded, it is expected to be about 4.5 millimeters thick, and around 9 millimeters thick when folded.
Instead of Face ID, Apple is using Touch ID for the iPhone Fold. A total of four cameras are planned: one center-stage front camera on each display and two rear cameras. The price is expected to be around $2,000, placing the iPhone Fold firmly in the upper premium segment.
Apple Home Camera and possible video doorbell
In the smart home sector, Apple has long focused on software and partner solutions. HomeKit has existed for over a decade, but its own hardware has been barely present. That is about to change.
Two new Apple Home products are in development for 2026. A home security camera is considered certain, and a video doorbell could also be released, although the exact timing is still unclear.
The surveillance camera is said to be equipped with facial recognition and infrared sensors. Its purpose is to identify who is in a room. Apple anticipates that users will place several of these cameras throughout their homes. They are intended not only for security but also for automation. Examples include automatically turning off lights when leaving a room or playing specific music when a particular family member is detected.
These devices are considered part of what is being described internally as the biggest year yet for Apple Home.
Apple Glasses
With the Vision Pro, Apple made its entry into spatial computing, albeit without the hoped-for mass-market success. Therefore, another, significantly more practical product is planned for this year: Apple Glasses, possibly also called Apple Vision.
The unveiling is expected towards the end of the year, with a market launch likely not until 2027. This product is not the fully-fledged AR glasses that Apple has planned for the long term, but rather a first generation 1.0 glasses product.
The focus is on AI and Siri. Plans include cameras for photos and videos, integrated speakers, an Apple Watch-level chip, and other sensors. The concept is similar to the Ray-Ban Meta AI glasses, but differs in its particularly deep integration with the iPhone and the rest of the Apple ecosystem.
HomePod Touch or HomePad
Another new home product is expected to be released in the spring. The name is not yet final; internally, names like HomePod Touch or HomePad are circulating.
The market launch was originally planned for last year, but was postponed. The reason given was delays in the planned AI upgrades for Siri.
The device is expected to feature a square 7-inch display and run on new homeOS software. It will include native apps, widgets similar to the iPhone's standby mode, and an integrated camera for FaceTime. Modular attachments are also planned for flexible mounting options. An AI-powered version of Siri is clearly a key feature. The expected price is around $350.
New MacBook
Apple currently sells the MacBook Air and the MacBook Pro. However, a completely new MacBook is expected to be released as an entry-level model in the coming months.
This new MacBook is expected to have a 12.9-inch display, making it slightly smaller than the current smallest MacBook Air. It will likely be powered by an iPhone-class chip, specifically the A18 Pro.
Visually, the device is expected to stand out more from previous models. Several colors are planned, including blue, pink, yellow, and silver. The anticipated price is particularly noteworthy. Rumors suggest $599 or $699, which would make the new MacBook the most affordable Apple laptop in many years.
Apple is focusing on new device categories and broader target groups in 2026
Apple is using 2026 to launch several new product lines simultaneously. The iPhone Fold marks the entry into foldable smartphones, Apple Home is being seriously expanded with its own hardware for the first time, and Apple Glasses create a new wearable category. At the same time, an attractively priced MacBook provides broader access to the Mac world.
Together, these products demonstrate that Apple is not only further developing existing devices but also strategically exploring new areas and expanding its ecosystem.
