Apple TV has released a first look at "Star City," the new drama from the creative team behind "For All Mankind." The series expands the familiar universe with a fresh perspective on the alternate space race. The worldwide launch is scheduled for Friday, May 29, with two episodes to kick things off, followed by one new episode per week until July 10.

Since its launch on November 1, 2019, Apple TV has established itself as a streaming service that focuses exclusively on original content. Plot and concept of "Star City"

"Star City" is an eight-part drama developed by award-winning creators Ben Nedivi, Matt Wolpert, and Ronald D. Moore. The series builds upon the world of "For All Mankind" and presents itself as a bold new chapter within that universe.

Thematically, the series returns to a pivotal moment in the alternate history of the space race: In this version of events, the Soviet Union succeeded in being the first nation to put a human on the moon. While "For All Mankind" primarily focuses on the American perspective, "Star City" shifts its focus to behind the Iron Curtain.

The series tells the story of the cosmonauts, engineers, and intelligence officers who were part of the Soviet space program. It focuses on the internal workings, political tensions, and personal risks that all involved took to advance technological development and progress humanity. The series combines elements of a space drama with those of a thriller and places particular emphasis on the atmosphere and power structures within the Soviet system.

Launch date and release schedule on Apple TV

The worldwide premiere of "Star City" on Apple TV is on Friday, May 29. Two episodes will be released simultaneously for the series launch. A new episode will then be released every Friday until July 10.
