Apple TV continues to expand its series portfolio, consistently relying on big names and strong productions. "The Morning Show" is a particularly important title on the platform. With the upcoming fifth season approaching, concrete casting news has emerged, generating considerable interest.

Since its launch, "The Morning Show" has been one of the most popular and successful series on Apple TV. The blend of drama, media world, and social issues has not only garnered the show a large audience but also numerous awards. Consequently, every development regarding new seasons and cast additions is closely followed.

Jesse Williams joins the cast

Jesse Williams, best known to many from "Grey's Anatomy," has been cast in the fifth season of "The Morning Show." This information comes from a report by Deadline.

Williams takes on the role of Vernon, the new head of news at UBN. The character is described as confident and provocative, deliberately stirring up trouble. At the same time, Vernon possesses a keen sense for captivating and retaining an audience. This suggests the character will play a crucial role in the plot's development.

Further new additions and existing cast

In addition to Jesse Williams, it was previously confirmed that Jeff Daniels, known from "The Newsroom," will also be part of the new season. The series continues to boast a top-notch cast. The ensemble includes:

  • Reese Witherspoon (Walk the Line)
  • Jennifer Aniston (Horrible Bosses)
  • Nicole Beharie (Love, Brooklyn)
  • Nestor Carbonell (Lost)
  • Billy Crudup (Almost Famous)
  • Mark Duplass (Blue Jay)
  • Jon Hamm (Baby Driver)
  • Karen Pittman („Custody“)

Billy Crudup, in particular, plays a crucial role in the series' success. He won the 2020 Emmy for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series and repeated this success in 2024, securing Apple TV one of its first major awards in this category.

Awards and significance of the series

"The Morning Show" is one of the most awarded productions on Apple TV. In addition to Billy Crudup's successes, the series has won two other Primetime Emmy Awards. In 2024, the show won:

  • Outstanding Contemporary Hairstyling
  • Outstanding Contemporary Makeup (Non-Prosthetic)

Furthermore, "The Morning Show" has received almost 30 nominations at the Primetime Emmy Awards. This underscores the consistent quality and high relevance of the series within the streaming landscape.

Current status of the release of season 5

The fourth season concluded last November. A specific release date for season 5 has not yet been set.

Showrunner Charlotte Stoudt addressed this in an interview, suggesting a 2026 release is likely. She cited delays caused by the writers' strike between seasons three and four. Without similar disruptions, production could proceed more quickly this time around, although there are still no final agreements with Apple regarding the release date.

Apple TV at a glance

Apple TV is a paid streaming service with a constantly growing selection of TV shows and movies. Besides "The Morning Show," the program includes, among others:

  • F1 The Movie
  • Pluribus
  • Severance
  • The Studio
  • Shrinking
  • silo

The subscription currently costs €9.99 per month and offers access to the platform's entire content offering.

Apple TV strengthens "The Morning Show" with new stars

Even before its release, the fifth season of "The Morning Show" is shaping up to be a major project for Apple TV. The cast is being strategically expanded with the additions of Jesse Williams and Jeff Daniels, without altering the existing strength of the ensemble. While the release date is still unknown, there are strong indications that the series will further solidify its position as one of Apple TV's flagship shows. (Image: Apple)
