Apple TV announces thriller series “Lucky” for summer 2026

Apple TV has officially announced the release date, first images, and a teaser for the new miniseries "Lucky." The seven-part production features a prominent lead actress, a successful novel, and an experienced creative team. The worldwide release is scheduled for summer 2026.

„Lucky“ was unveiled at the Apple TV Press Day 2026, where the cast and creators offered extensive insights into the series for the first time. The focus is on a dark thriller story with clearly defined characters and a high level of suspense, carried by an internationally renowned cast and an established production company.

Release date and availability on Apple TV

The miniseries Lucky will premiere worldwide on Apple TV on Wednesday, July 15, 2026. The first two episodes will be released at launch, followed by a new episode every Wednesday. The final episode will be released on August 19, 2026.

Plot and template

„"Lucky" is based on the bestselling novel of the same name by Marissa Stapley, which was also selected by Reese's Book Club. The story centers on con artist Lucky. After a multi-million dollar robbery goes wrong, she is forced to go into hiding. While the FBI pursues her, she also becomes the target of a ruthless crime boss. Lucky fights for her survival and for a way to escape her former life.

The lead role is played by Anya Taylor-Joy, who is not only involved as an actress but also as an executive producer. The cast also includes Annette Bening, Timothy Olyphant, Aunjanue Ellis-Taylor, Drew Starkey, Clifton Collins Jr., and William Fichtner.

Creative team and production

The series was created by Jonathan Tropper, who serves as co-showrunner and executive producer alongside Cassie Pappas. It is produced by Tropper Ink under a master deal with Apple TV+. Other executive producers include Reese Witherspoon and Lauren Neustadter for Hello Sunshine. Anya Taylor-Joy is involved through her own production company, LadyKiller. The pilot episode was directed by Jonathan van Tulleken, who also serves as an executive producer. "Lucky" is produced by Apple Studios.
