Apple TV is bringing back the neo-noir crime series Sugar. After a highly acclaimed first season, the series, starring Colin Farrell, returns for a second season. It once again tells a modern take on the classic private detective story, set in Los Angeles and characterized by a quiet, dark tone.
With the release of a first look, Apple TV has officially confirmed that John Sugar's story continues. The first season was hailed as one of the best neo-noir thrillers of recent years and particularly praised for its unexpected twist. The second season builds on this success in terms of both content and style.
Release date and availability on Apple TV
The second season of "Sugar" consists of eight episodes and premieres worldwide on Friday, June 19, on Apple TV. A first episode will be released, followed by a new episode every Friday until August 7.

Plot of the second season
The series once again centers on John Sugar, a seasoned private investigator and film buff from Los Angeles. In the new season, he takes on a case involving the troubled older brother of an up-and-coming local boxer. At the same time, he continues his search for his missing sister, a mystery that continues to weigh heavily on him. As the investigation unfolds, the case evolves into a citywide conspiracy with sinister motives, forcing Sugar to confront his own moral boundaries.

Cast: Returning actors and new roles
Colin Farrell returns in the lead role and also serves as an executive producer. New additions to the cast for the second season include Jin Ha, Raymond Lee, Tony Dalton, Laura Donnelly, and Sasha Calle. Shea Whigham also joins the series as a special guest star.

Creative team and production
Sam Catlin is the creative director of the second season, also serving as an executive producer under his label Short Drive Entertainment. Other executive producers include Audrey Chon and Simon Kinberg for Genre Films, as part of Kinberg's overall deal with Apple TV, as well as Colin Farrell, Scott Greenberg, and Chip Vucelich. "Sugar" was developed by Mark Protosevich.
