With iOS 26, iPadOS 26, and macOS 26, Apple is bringing a number of new features to the Reminders and Notes apps. The focus is clearly on increased productivity and reduced manual effort. The new tools leverage Apple Intelligence to automatically recognize, sort, and deliver content in a convenient format. If you regularly use your iPhone, iPad, or Mac for planning, taking notes, and organizing, these new features could significantly simplify your everyday life.
Apple is expanding the functionality of Reminders and Notes with a clear goal: less manual work, more intelligent support. Through the use of Apple Intelligence, your devices become better at recognizing tasks, structuring content, and storing information in a useful format. Everything remains closely linked to your personal usage behavior. The following four new features make this clear.
Automatic task suggestions in reminders
With the new system update, Apple Intelligence automatically recognizes relevant tasks and suggests them to you in the Reminders app. These can be to-dos mentioned in emails, items from notes, or even groceries you regularly buy. The suggestions are personalized and contextual—your device learns from your habits and offers you tasks before you enter them yourself. The goal is to largely relieve you of the manual task of entering them. So if you often forget what you wanted to do, Apple does some of the thinking for you. The recognition runs in the background and is based on your previous interactions with apps and content.
Intelligent grouping of task lists
In addition to suggestions, Reminders also automatically sorts your tasks. Similar items are grouped together—for example, "Groceries," "Errands," or "Work." This grouping happens automatically, without you having to manually tag or move tasks. This is especially helpful for longer lists that mix different topics. You get a better overview and find what's important more quickly. The grouping is dynamic and automatically adapts to new items.
Call recordings directly in the Notes app
A new feature in the Notes app allows you to record phone calls directly from the Phone app. The recordings are automatically saved to a note. Apple also creates a transcript of the call so you can review what was said later. This is especially useful if you missed important information or if you want to share content from the call. You can also more easily search the transcribed content or use it as a summary. This feature is aimed at users who make frequent phone calls and need to record important content—for example, at work or while studying.
Export notes as Markdown files
Apple is also expanding the export features in the Notes app. In addition to the existing PDF export, you can now also save your notes as Markdown files (.md). This format is particularly popular with users who work with third-party tools or want to archive notes long-term in an open, easy-to-read format. Markdown is a text format that easily displays content with structure and formatting—for example, headings, lists, or links. The new export option makes it easier to import your notes into other writing programs or to edit them as a team.
