Following the first photos from Sonny Dickson, a new video shows the dummy models of the iPhone Fold and the iPhone 18 Pro Max in direct comparison – making the size difference more tangible than any still image.
It was a day full of iPhone leaks: First, Sonny Dickson published photos of dummy models of the iPhone Fold, iPhone 18 Pro, and iPhone 18 Pro Max. Just a few hours later, a video surfaced showing the dummies of the iPhone Fold and iPhone 18 Pro Max from various angles. The clip, created by X user AhMad Ansari, provides a significantly better impression of the actual proportions than photos alone.
Dummy models are used in the industry to produce accessories such as cases and screen protectors before the official launch. They represent the final dimensions of a device but do not show all design details. The fact that two independent sources revealed dummies on the same day suggests that these models are now widely circulated in the supply chain.

What the video shows
The video clearly demonstrates how compact the iPhone Fold is compared to the iPhone 18 Pro Max. When folded, the foldable device appears significantly shorter than Apple's largest standard iPhone – almost like an iPhone mini, only noticeably wider. The passport-sized format, already apparent in the photos, becomes even more pronounced in the video.
In terms of thickness, both devices are very similar when closed. The iPhone Fold measures approximately 9.5 millimeters when folded, while the iPhone 18 Pro Max is expected to be 8.75 millimeters thick – a difference that should be barely noticeable in a trouser pocket. However, when unfolded, the iPhone Fold becomes the thinnest iOS device ever, at less than 5 millimeters.
Details such as the camera arrangement, the MagSafe ring, and the presumably almost invisible display crease, which Apple is reportedly working on according to several sources, are not visible on the dummy. The hinge line, which is clearly visible on the dummy, is also expected to be much less noticeable on the final product.
iPhone 18 Pro Max: Hardly any design changes
Regarding the iPhone 18 Pro Max, the video confirms expectations: The device looks almost identical to the iPhone 17 Pro Max. It's expected to be slightly thicker, but will retain the 6.9-inch display. The smaller Dynamic Island display remains exclusive to the Pro models – though this isn't apparent on the dummy unit.
iPhone Fold: Autumn will be exciting
With the iPhone Fold, the iPhone 18 Pro, the iPhone 18 Pro Max, and presumably the iPhone Air 2, Apple plans to launch four new models simultaneously in the fall of 2026. The fact that dummy units and videos are already circulating in April indicates that the supply chain is preparing for one of the most extensive iPhone launches in years. Whether the iPhone Fold will actually go on sale at the same time as the Pro models or only weeks later remains uncertain, given the reported testing issues.
