New details about the iPhone 18 have emerged, primarily concerning its design and release window. The focus is on a smaller Dynamic Island, which apparently isn't limited to just a few models. At the same time, much remains the same, suggesting a rather cautious evolution.
The information comes from the Chinese leaker Ice Universe, who is considered relatively reliable. According to his report, the smaller Dynamic Island display will initially be introduced in the iPhone 18 Pro models, which are expected as early as September of this year. Later, this change will also be adopted in the regular iPhone 18, which will be released at the beginning of next year.
Additionally, there are indications that Apple is planning a split launch in the future, with Pro and standard models appearing at different times.
Smaller Dynamic Island for all models
The most important point: The Dynamic Island is expected to be smaller overall and used in the entire iPhone 18 series. This would mean it wouldn't be an exclusive feature of the Pro models, but a standard feature of the new generation.
No changes to the display edges
While the Dynamic Island display is changing, the bezels remain unchanged. They are said to be identical to those of the iPhone 17 series. Apple is therefore focusing on refinements rather than a completely new design.
New release strategy
Apple is apparently planning a new approach:
- Pro models: unveiled in autumn
- Standard model (iPhone 18): Release early the following year
It is also possible that a first foldable iPhone will be unveiled at the same time.
Doubts about the leaks
Not all sources agree. One leaker questions whether the Pro models will actually get a smaller Dynamic Island. However, most reports confirm this change.
iPhone 18 focuses on detailed improvements
According to recent leaks, the iPhone 18 will primarily bring one visible improvement: a smaller Dynamic Island in all models. The bezels will remain the same, while the release strategy could change significantly.
Overall, everything points to targeted further development rather than a major upheaval. (Image: Shutterstock / umitc)
