Apple is heading towards the biggest iPhone year in its history: Six new models are expected to be released in 2027, spread across two waves. A new leak lists the complete lineup, including screen sizes, and reveals how far along the development of the fall models is.
A new list from leaker Digital Chat Station outlines the entire iPhone lineup for 2027. The reason: Apple now spreads its iPhone launches across two fixed windows per year, a premium launch in the fall and a mass-market lineup in the spring. Because this means the standard iPhone 18 and the iPhone Air 2 won't appear until early 2027, an unusually large number of new releases are concentrated in the same calendar year. The post, shared via Weibo, lists not only the individual devices but also their display specifications and their respective development status.
Autumn 2026 will be reserved for the top models
Before the big iPhone year of 2027 begins, the upcoming fall will be smaller than usual. Only three devices are expected for 2026: the iPhone 18 Pro, the iPhone 18 Pro Max, and the foldable iPhone Ultra. It is only the postponement of the regular iPhone 18 and the iPhone Air 2 to spring 2027 that creates the bottleneck that will make the coming year so packed.
The complete iPhone lineup for 2027
According to the list, the six models are divided into two phases. The following overview summarizes the key data mentioned:
| Model | Display or development status | Expected window |
|---|---|---|
| iPhone Air 2 | 6.55″, 1.5K, 120 Hz, LTPO OLED | Spring 2027 |
| iPhone 18 | 6.3″, 1.5K, 120 Hz, LTPO OLED | Spring 2027 |
| iPhone 18e | 6.12″, 1.5K, 60 Hz, LTPS OLED | Spring 2027 |
| iPhone 19 Pro / iPhone 20 Pro | Form tests completed | September 2027 |
| iPhone 19 Pro Max / iPhone 20 Pro Max | Form tests completed | September 2027 |
| iPhone Ultra 2 | wide folding screen, shape tests underway | September 2027 |
The first three devices are scheduled to launch early in the year, likely no later than March. The remaining three will follow in September 2027.
Spring: familiar sizes, a known shortcoming
There are few indications of changes to the spring models. Both the iPhone Air 2 and the regular iPhone 18 are expected to retain their screen sizes and display technology from their respective predecessors – this was already anticipated. More striking is the leak that the iPhone 18e is also expected to remain unchanged from the current model: a 6.12-inch panel with a 60Hz refresh rate using LTPS technology – and thus still without the smoother ProMotion display.
Changes to the entry-level model are not entirely out of the question. Apple could switch from the current notch to a Dynamic Island design for the iPhone 18e. However, given the ongoing memory shortage, which is driving up the cost of many components, it wouldn't be surprising if Apple deliberately kept the e-model slim to avoid a significant price increase.
Autumn: Anniversary design and the next generation of foldables
The second wave of information is more intriguing. The iPhone 19 Pro / iPhone 20 Pro and the iPhone 19 Pro Max / iPhone 20 Pro Max are expected to receive a redesigned look to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the iPhone – the leak reports the completion of form testing, a significant step towards mass production. According to the report, form testing is still underway for the iPhone Ultra 2, the second generation of Apple's foldable iPhone; a wide foldable screen is also mentioned. The list doesn't yet include specific display specifications for the fall models – an indication that these devices are in an earlier stage of development than the spring lineup.
An iPhone year in two acts
Should the leak prove accurate, Apple will release more new iPhones throughout 2027 than ever before – from the affordable e-model to the foldable flagship. The leak already paints a fairly clear picture of the spring devices, while the fall models are primarily known for their development stage. Until the first official unveiling in early 2027, we'll only have clues from the supply chain – but the general direction is becoming increasingly clear. (Image: Shutterstock / Dontree_M)
