iOS 26.2 is shaping up to be one of the most comprehensive point updates for the current iPhone generation. With the release of iOS 26.2 Beta 3, Apple demonstrates that even small version jumps can bring a multitude of new features, design tweaks, and system-wide improvements. The update expands existing features, incorporates user feedback, and simultaneously prepares for the introduction of new technologies.
Since the start of the beta phase, Apple has been regularly releasing visible changes to iOS 26.2. Beta 1 and Beta 2 already provided deep insights into the update, but Beta 3 adds further improvements in several areas. The new version brings refined design, improved usability, a modernized Measure app, AI enhancements to Podcasts, new multitasking options on the iPad, and hints at future system settings. In addition, there are cross-platform innovations such as Edge Light on the Mac and the upcoming AirPods Live translation in the EU.
AirDrop Codes
With iOS 26.2 Beta 3, you can create an AirDrop code that establishes a temporary connection between two devices. The code is displayed and can be shared with someone who is not in your contact list. After entering the code on the other iPhone, both devices can send and receive files without needing to save a contact.
Liquid Glass Level in Measure
The Measure app was completely redesigned in Beta 2. The tool is now based on a Liquid Glass design, which visually distinguishes it from previous versions. In iOS 26.2 Beta 3, Apple further improves the display so that numbers are not obscured at certain angles. This makes the function appear more precise and clearer.
Multitasking on the iPad: Split View and Slide Over
Slide Over returned with iPadOS 26.1. iPadOS 26.2 Beta 3 now brings back another familiar multitasking gesture that has been missing since iPadOS 18. App icons can once again be dragged from the Dock to open Split View or Slide Over. This makes the workflow more flexible and returns it to the multitasking behavior of previous generations.
Standard for voice assistants
New options for the side button have been added to the beta's system code. Apple is apparently testing the ability to change the action required to hold the button. This would mean Siri would no longer be the default function. However, this feature is only intended for Japan, as legal regulations there require an alternative control method.
