Apple has released the third developer beta of iOS 26.2. Simultaneously, updated test versions of iPadOS 26.2, macOS 26.2, watchOS 26.2, tvOS 26.2, and visionOS 26.2 are also available. This release comes just a few days after Beta 2 and demonstrates that Apple continues to work at a rapid pace on the next interim version. What visible new features Beta 3 contains is currently unknown. Any changes discovered will be covered separately as soon as they are documented.
With the third beta, the final release of iOS 26.2 is drawing closer. During this phase, Apple typically focuses on stability, bug fixes, and internal refinements. New features appear less frequently but can be unlocked at any time. The integration of Apple Intelligence, in particular, remains an ongoing process that continues to be optimized in the background. The beta also serves to evaluate feedback from Beta 1 and Beta 2 and to stabilize system components.
Review of iOS 26.2 Beta 1
The first beta of iOS 26.2 brought a wide range of visible innovations that have noticeably expanded the system.
Live translation with AirPods in the EU
Live translation with AirPods is now available in the EU for the first time. It works completely offline and currently supports nine languages. Apple had to make adjustments to comply with the Digital Markets Act, which is why the feature is launching later than in other regions.
Alarm function in reminders
Reminders can now be set to include real alarms. Instead of a silent notification, an audible signal sounds with options like snooze or stop. The lock screen display has also been enhanced and now includes a countdown timer during the snooze phase.
Liquid Glass slider on the lock screen
The time displayed on the lock screen can now be adjusted to a continuously variable level of transparency using a new slider. This design is more flexible than the two options in iOS 26.1 and makes it easier to match different wallpapers.
Tables in Freeform
Freeform has received a table function for the first time. Tables can be freely positioned on the workspace and combine with all other app content as usual. This makes the app more versatile for planning and collaborative projects.
Apple Music: New sharing option for WhatsApp Status
Song lyrics can now be shared directly as WhatsApp statuses. This integration is currently in the testing phase and is primarily displayed when sharing lyrics.
Enhancements to the Podcasts app
Three features improve navigation and interaction: automatically generated chapters, podcast mentions in the transcript, and the "From this episode" overview with all external links.
AirDrop: Hints of planned pairing
References to an upcoming PIN-based pairing feature, which makes devices visible for 30 days, were discovered in the code. The feature is not yet active, but clearly indicates the direction of development.
Revised sleep scoring in watchOS 26.2
The sleep score scale has been adjusted to reflect more realistic values. In particular, the top category has been renamed and the point ranges reordered.
Other minor adjustments included Apple News, the weather app, new notification options, and accessibility features.
Review of iOS 26.2 Beta 2
Beta 2 focused on fine-tuning and minor improvements affecting various apps and design elements.
Revised design of the Measure app
The spirit level now uses a liquid glass design with two liquid bubbles. The appearance has been made cleaner and more modern, and is more closely aligned with current UI elements.
New sorting options in the games app
The game library can now be sorted by app size. This addition helps with storage management and makes cleaning up the library easier.
CarPlay with more control over messages
CarPlay can hide pinned conversations in the Messages app. This creates a clearer overview in the car without having to change the settings on the iPhone.
Faster system animations
The pop-out menus in the corners have been given an improved animation. The new transitions appear faster and visually match what Apple demonstrated at WWDC.
Further optimizations
Beta 2 confirmed the basics of the new features from Beta 1 and provided additional consistency in details such as notifications, accessibility, security settings and the games app.

Outlook on further developments
With Beta 3, Apple is likely to finalize primarily internal work. However, visible new features may still appear at any time, especially regarding Apple Intelligence, lock screen options, or app functions that were already prepared in Beta 1. The public beta update is expected soon, while the release candidate is likely to follow in early December. The final version is scheduled for release in mid-December.

iOS 26.2 Beta 3 continues the course
iOS 26.2 doesn't reinvent the system, but rather refines it in numerous small ways. The first two betas already delivered a broad mix of new features, improvements, and minor enhancements. With Beta 3, the focus shifts clearly towards stability and preparing the final version. As new features emerge, they will be tracked separately and integrated into the ongoing overview.
