F1 The Movie is about to launch on Apple TV. The film was already available for purchase or rental in August and will finally be available through the subscription service on December 12th. At the same time, the question on many people's minds is growing: Will there be a sequel? New statements from Apple CEO Tim Cook and director Joseph Kosinski provide clear indications of how realistic a second installment is.

The success of F1 The Movie sparked early speculation. The film is considered Apple's biggest blockbuster to date and has raised expectations among fans and industry observers that extend beyond a single installment. Kosinski and Cook are now speaking openly about the project's future. Their statements indicate that the idea of a sequel is more than just a theoretical exercise.

Streaming start of F1 The Movie

Following its August release for purchase and rental, the next important date is approaching. On December 12th, F1 The Movie will be available for the first time on Apple TV's regular streaming service. This significantly increases its reach, as many viewers are deliberately waiting for the subscription release. With growing interest, expectations are also rising that Apple will further expand this successful project.

Fan demand for a sequel

In recent weeks, the question of a second film has been raised with increasing frequency. Formula 1 is a global sport with high storytelling potential, and the world of F1 The Movie offers enough narrative space to fill several chapters. Variety picked up the topic and spoke directly to director Joseph Kosinski about it.

Joseph Kosinski shows great enthusiasm for part two

Kosinski responded candidly. He'd like to see what adventures await Sonny Hayes. He's also interested in the future of the APXGP team and the path Joshua Pearce takes. For him, the story is full of possibilities. He describes the current planning stage as a phase where initial ideas are being developed and one imagines what another film could look like. It doesn't seem speculative, but rather like genuine interest in a second chapter.

Tim Cook confirms ongoing talks

Tim Cook was also asked about a possible sequel at the Emmys. His answer was cautious, but clearly indicated that the topic is already being discussed internally. Cook explained that F1 The Movie was a major summer blockbuster for Apple and that they were very proud of the entire team. He highlighted the performance of everyone involved, especially Brad Pitt's portrayal. Cook emphasized that they couldn't wait to make the film available to an even wider audience. These statements align with Apple's latest deal with Formula 1 for streaming rights in the US, which strengthens its long-term commitment to the racing series.

Why a second film would make sense

The combination of a successful film release, a growing streaming audience, and Apple's increased involvement in Formula 1 clearly suggests that a sequel would make sense both economically and narratively. The characters are designed in such a way that their stories can continue. At the same time, Apple has an interest in expanding successful brands and securing their long-term commitment to its platform.

F1 The Movie: Prospects for a second chapter are growing.

There's no official confirmation yet for F1 The Movie 2. Nevertheless, there are strong indications that those involved have a serious interest in a sequel. Kosinski has expressed creative curiosity, and Cook has confirmed that talks are underway. This suggests a good chance that the universe surrounding Sonny Hayes, the APXGP team, and Joshua Pearce will continue. Apple TV costs €9.99 per month and, in addition to F1 The Movie, offers series such as Severance, The Studio, The Morning Show, Shrinking, and Silo. (Image: Apple)
