The sports comedy series "Stick" was among the shows that garnered attention on Apple TV last year. The production combines a humorous storyline with an unusual setting in the world of golf.

There are now new developments regarding the upcoming second season. Actor Billy Zane is joining the cast of the series and will take on a recurring role. At the same time, further cast changes have been announced.

With its original productions, Apple TV has established itself as a serious player in the streaming market in recent years. Series featuring well-known actors, clear concepts, and diverse genres are part of the platform's strategy.

"Stick" is an example of this approach. The series combines sports, comedy, and personal stories revolving around new beginnings and the relationships between the characters. After a successful first season, the show was therefore renewed relatively quickly for a second season.

Parallel to this extension, the cast is also evolving. New actors are joining, while other roles within the series are being expanded.

Billy Zane joins the second season of "Stick"

As reported by the industry magazine Deadline, Billy Zane will have a recurring role in the second season of "Stick." This significantly expands the cast of the golf comedy.

Billy Zane is best known to many viewers for his role in the film "Titanic". He has also appeared in numerous other film and television productions, including the cult series "Twin Peaks".

Exactly which character Zane will portray in the second season is not yet publicly known. However, it is confirmed that he will be a recurring character in the new episodes.

Other actors are promoted to leading roles

The news of Billy Zane's involvement comes just days after another casting development within the series. Two actors have been officially promoted to series regulars. These are:

  • Judy Greer, known from "The Big Bang Theory" among other things
  • Timothy Olyphant, who appeared in "Live Free or Die Hard" among other films.

Both were previously part of the series ensemble and will now have larger roles in the upcoming season.

Plot and concept of the series "Stick"

"Stick" is a sports comedy series created by Jason Keller. The lead role is played by Owen Wilson, who also serves as an executive producer on the series.

The story centers on Pryce Cahill, a former professional golfer. His career ended abruptly and unexpectedly about 20 years ago.

After his marriage falls apart, Pryce now works in a sporting goods store in Indiana. His life takes a new turn when he meets 17-year-old golfer Santi. The role of the young talent is played by Peter Dager.

Santi is considered an exceptional young talent in golf. Pryce therefore decides to go all in and place his entire future on the young player.

The series tells this story as a blend of comedy and emotional character development. The focus is on the relationships between the characters and the idea of a newly found "chosen family" within the world of golf.

According to Apple's official description, "Stick" is a heartwarming and entertaining series about interpersonal relationships, personal setbacks, and new opportunities.

Cast and first season

Besides Owen Wilson, Lilli Kay and Marc Maron are also among the central actors in the series.

  • Owen Wilson (Midnight in Paris) plays Pryce Cahill
  • Lilli Kay (Your Honor) is part of the main cast
  • Marc Maron (Springsteen: Deliver Me from Nowhere) also plays a central role.

The first season comprises a total of ten episodes.

Critics and success of the series

The first season was received mostly positively by critics. On Rotten Tomatoes, the series achieved an average Tomatometer rating of 82 percent.

This solid rating contributed to the series being officially renewed for a second season shortly after the season finale aired.

No start date yet for season two

Although the second season has already been confirmed, there is currently no release schedule for it. Apple has not yet announced a specific start date or a possible release window.

Apple TV expands the cast of the series "Stick"

The second season of "Stick" is already taking shape before it even premieres. Billy Zane, another well-known actor, is joining the series. At the same time, Judy Greer and Timothy Olyphant are being promoted to regular main cast members.

Apple is significantly expanding the cast of its golf comedy. While concrete details about the plot of the new season and a release date are still pending, the growing cast demonstrates that Apple TV continues to invest in the series and intends to further develop its story. (Image: Apple)
