Apple TV received two awards at the 37th annual GLAAD Media Awards. The documentary "Come See Me in the Good Light" was recognized as Outstanding Documentary, while the series "Palm Royale" won the award for Outstanding Comedy Series.

The GLAAD Media Awards recognize media productions that portray the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer (LGBTQ) community fairly, accurately, and inclusively. Awards are given to content that raises awareness of social issues and showcases diverse perspectives.

With these two awards, Apple TV expands its list of international accolades for its own productions.

Since its launch on November 1, 2019, Apple TV has consistently focused on original content. The streaming service offers high-quality drama and comedy series, feature films, documentaries, and content for children and families, all of which can be watched on various devices.

This strategy is also reflected in the awards. To date, Apple Original films, series, and documentaries have won 741 awards and received a total of 3,287 nominations.

Among the most famous productions are the multiple Emmy-winning series "Ted Lasso", the series "The Studio", the international series phenomenon "Severance", Apple's most-watched drama "Pluribus", the Oscar winner "CODA" and the Oscar-nominated film "F1", which is considered the most successful sports film of all time.

Two awards for Apple TV

Apple TV received two awards at this year's GLAAD Media Awards. The documentary "Come See Me in the Good Light" won in the Outstanding Documentary category. The comedy series "Palm Royale" was recognized as Outstanding Comedy Series.

Both productions are currently available on Apple TV.

"Come See Me in the Good Light"

"Come See Me in the Good Light" is Apple’s first documentary to be nominated for an Oscar. The film was also selected by the National Board of Review as one of the five best documentaries of 2025.

The production received further acclaim at the International Documentary Association Awards and the Cinema Eye Honors, where it won Best Documentary. Previously, it had already won the Favorite Award at the Sundance Film Festival. Additionally, it was nominated by, among others, the Society of Composers & Lyricists, the American Society of Cinematographers, the Film Independent Spirit Awards, and the Satellite Awards.

The documentary tells the story of poets Andrea Gibson and Megan Falley, who together must cope with a terminal cancer diagnosis. Despite the difficult situation, they face it with humor, love, and a strong partnership. The film intertwines serious themes such as illness and mortality with moments of hope and resilience.

"Palm Royale"

The comedy series "Palm Royale" also received an award at the GLAAD Media Awards. The series was honored as an outstanding comedy series.

The production also received several other awards. At the Make-Up Artists & Hair Stylists Guild Awards, it won prizes for Best Period/Character Hairstyling and for the corresponding make-up. At the Costume Designers Guild Awards, it was recognized for Excellence in Period Television.

The series received further awards at the Art Directors Guild Awards, including for casting in the pilot and first season, and for creating a one-hour period drama. Additionally, "Palm Royale" was nominated for Actor Awards at the SAG-AFTRA Awards and for Critics' Choice Awards.

The series tells the story of Maxine Simmons, played by Kristen Wiig, who tries to climb the social ladder in Palm Beach. Set in 1969, it's a classic underdog story about social boundaries, belonging, and how much of oneself one would give up to fit in.

Previous GLAAD awards for Apple TV

These latest awards aren't the first successes for Apple TV at the GLAAD Media Awards. Back in 2024, "Ted Lasso" won Best Comedy Series. In 2022, an episode of "The Oprah Conversation" with Elliot Page received the award for Best Variety or Talk Show Episode. And in 2021, the episode "The Son" from the series "Little America" was also recognized.

Apple TV confirms its strength with award-winning productions

The two awards at the 37th GLAAD Media Awards once again demonstrate the importance of Apple TV in the streaming market. With productions like "Come See Me in the Good Light" and "Palm Royale," the service continues to focus on high-quality content that both entertains and addresses social issues.

The high number of awards and nominations shows that Apple TV has successfully relied on its own internationally acclaimed productions since its launch. (Image: Apple)
