WWDC 2026: Apple's keynote breaks with an old tradition
Apple's WWDC keynote was structured differently this time – not by system, but by topic. Why that's no coincidence and so on...
WWDC – Apple's Worldwide Developers Conference – is Apple's most important software event and has been held annually since 1987, traditionally in June. At WWDC, Apple uses its keynote to introduce the next major versions of its platforms – iOS, iPadOS, macOS, watchOS, tvOS and visionOS – along with new frameworks, AI capabilities, design languages and developer tools. Over the following days, free online sessions, labs and code-along formats follow, complemented by an in-person "Special Event" at Apple Park for selected developers. Hardware premieres such as new Macs, Apple silicon chips or Vision Pro have also been announced at past WWDCs.
In this tag archive on apfelpatient.de, you'll find everything around Apple's developer conference: expectations and rumors ahead of every WWDC, complete keynote coverage with all platform highlights, deep dives into frameworks and developer tools, background on Apple's AI and platform strategy, beta cycles for the current operating system generations, new features such as Liquid Glass design or Core AI, and all hardware announcements that Apple ships out of Cupertino alongside its software updates.
