Apple is consistently expanding AI support in the Support app

Apple continues to work on further automating its customer support while making it more informative. With a recent update to the Apple Support app, Apple is expanding its AI-powered support assistant. The goal is to answer questions faster, better diagnose problems, and guide users through potential solutions in a more structured way.

Apple has been using artificial intelligence in its support services for some time now. The support assistant in the Apple Support app (US version) is part of this approach and was initially introduced in a limited testing phase. A new update now shows that Apple is further developing the feature and gradually transitioning it to a more stable, official use.

Apple is further developing its AI support assistant

Apple has been testing the support assistant since August of last year. The AI-based tool is designed to help answer typical questions about Apple devices and services. It offers not only general assistance but also specific, device-related support.

The support assistant can guide users step-by-step through solutions to common problems. This should make it possible to resolve many issues directly within the app, without having to immediately contact traditional support.

Diagnostic functions and device status in focus

Apple states that the Support Assistant can also help with diagnostics. It displays details about the health and performance of a device. This information can help narrow down problems or provide initial clues to possible causes. The assistant is thus evolving from a simple question-and-answer function into a supporting diagnostic tool.

Revised interface and new name

With the update, Apple has also redesigned the interface of the Apple Support app. The support assistant is now displayed in a more informative view. The most noticeable change is to the tab: instead of the previous "Chat" label, it is now called "Questions" and features a new icon. The new label is intended to make it clearer that this is a comprehensive support function.

Additionally, Apple no longer refers to the support assistant as an "Early Preview." This suggests that the feature is no longer considered experimental but is entering a more official phase.

Still limited availability

Despite the visible improvements, the support assistant is still not available to all users. Apple has apparently restricted access, but may have expanded it to a larger group of testers. Currently, the feature is not yet available to everyone.

Transfer to traditional Apple support

If the AI support assistant cannot resolve a problem, direct contact with Apple Support remains possible. In this case, a request can be forwarded to support for further assistance. Apple thus combines automated support with personalized service.

Apple is focusing on AI for customer support in the long term

With its latest update, Apple makes it clear that the AI support assistant will become a permanent feature of the Apple Support app. Improved functions, a redesigned interface, and the removal of the "Early Preview" status demonstrate that Apple is seriously expanding the service. Even though availability is still limited, it's becoming apparent that Apple intends to rely more heavily on AI for customer support in the future, without completely replacing traditional support.
