Apple Leaks

A major leak offers a rare glimpse into Apple's internal product planning. An early iOS version, originally installed on an internal prototype, contains references to dozens of previously unreleased devices. These include a foldable iPhone, the AirTag 2, new Macs with M5 and M6 chips, wearables, vision products, and numerous smart home devices. The leak is considered credible and definitively confirms many rumors for the first time.

The starting point for these revelations is an Apple prototype that was sold with a very early version of iOS. The buyer subsequently passed the software on. The operating system in question is an internal pre-release version with build number 23A5234w. This version predates the first developer beta of iOS 26, which had build number 23A5260n.

Internally, Apple still referred to this software as iOS 19. Therefore, many entries in the system are marked accordingly, even though it is actually an early development stage of iOS 26. An anonymous source has given MacRumors access to the device lists contained within the software. The codenames listed therein reveal which products Apple is currently working on and which devices are already in advanced planning stages.

Apple and new AirTags as well as smart home devices

Several new products have appeared in the smart home and accessories sector. The AirTag 2, codenamed B589, is particularly noteworthy. This model has been anticipated for some time and is now considered confirmed.

In addition, Apple is planning a new Studio Display 2, internally designated J427 and J527, as well as a new Apple TV codenamed J355. In the smart home sector, two Home Hub variants are listed. One version with a base station is codenamed J490, while a mounted version is designated J491.

Another Home accessory, codenamed J229, remains unclear. It could be a standalone base station to expand the Home Hub, or another device altogether, such as a camera developed by Apple. Also noteworthy is a tabletop robot codenamed J595, which suggests experimental smart home concepts. The lineup is rounded out by the HomePod mini 2, codenamed B525.

New iPads in several variants

Apple is also planning several updates for the iPads. According to a leak, the iPad 12 will be released in two versions: one with Wi-Fi and one with cellular connectivity. The internal code names are J581 and J582.

In addition, there will be an M4 iPad Air, which is planned in four variants. 11-inch and 13-inch models are planned, each with either Wi-Fi or cellular connectivity. The corresponding code names are J707, J708, J737, and J738.

iPhones including foldable model

The leak provides a wealth of details, particularly regarding the iPhone. It confirms the existence of an iPhone 17e with the codename V159. Also listed is the iPhone Air 2, codenamed V62. The included software originates from a period before Apple internally postponed the launch of this model.

Furthermore, Apple is already working on the next generation. The iPhone 18 Pro is codenamed V63, and the iPhone 18 Pro Max is codenamed V64. Particularly noteworthy is the foldable iPhone, codenamed V68. This provides the first clear evidence that Apple is actively working on a foldable device and that this project is not merely theoretical.

Macs with A, M5 and M6 chips

In the Mac sector, a long-term and broad-based plan is evident. A budget-friendly MacBook with an A18 Pro chip is codenamed J700. This suggests that Apple might rely more heavily on iPhone chips in certain Mac models in the future.

For more powerful devices, numerous M5-based Macs are planned. These include MacBook Pro models with the M5 Pro and M5 Max in 14- and 16-inch versions. Their internal designations are J714c, J714s, J716c, and J716s. Additionally, a 13- and 15-inch M5 MacBook Air is planned, codenamed J813 and J815.

Also in development are an M5 Mac Studio with M5 Max and M5 Ultra under the designations J775c and J775d, as well as an M5 Mac mini in a standard and a Pro version with the code names J873g and J873s.

Further into the future are Macs with M6 chips. These include a 14-inch MacBook Pro with the identifier J804, as well as other MacBook Pro models with M6 Pro and M6 Max in 14 and 16 inches. These bear the code names K114c, K114s, K116c, and K116s.

Wearables, vision products and AR glasses

In the area of wearables and mixed reality, Apple is working on several concepts simultaneously. The Vision Air headset, codenamed N100, is intended to be a lighter and more affordable alternative to the Vision Pro.

In addition, several AR glasses prototypes exist. A standalone model codenamed N421 and a Mac-connected AR headset designated N107 are, according to the leak, considered scrapped. Nevertheless, they demonstrate that Apple has experimented extensively with various AR approaches.

Additionally, a more affordable second-generation Vision Pro is in development. This model is designated N109 and is clearly distinct from the Vision Air. Particularly interesting is the AI-powered smart glasses, originally codenamed N50 and now designated N401. They are intended as a direct competitor to the Meta Ray-Ban Smart Glasses.

Classic wearables are also included. The Apple Watch Series 12 will be released in Wi-Fi and cellular versions, codenamed N237 and N238, respectively. It will be complemented by the Apple Watch Ultra 4, codenamed N240.

New Apple chips as the technical foundation

The leak also contains references to several upcoming Apple chips. These include the AirPods H3 codenamed T2026, a new Ultra-Wideband U3 chip with the identifier T2034, and the entire M5 chip family under T6050.

Furthermore, the M6 chip, designated T8152, the A20 and A20 Pro chips under T8160, and the S11 chip, codenamed T8320, are listed. These chips form the basis for many of the aforementioned device generations.

Unknown code names without clear assignment

In addition to the known products, several code names have surfaced that cannot currently be assigned to any specific device. These include N110, N209, N216, J349, J190, and J226. These entries point to further projects about which no rumors exist yet or which are still in very early stages of development.

Apple's next major product offensive at a glance

The leak provides an unusually detailed picture of Apple's product pipeline. It confirms not only individual devices but also a long-term strategy spanning several years. Some products, such as the AirTag 2, new iPads, and Home Hubs, are considered candidates for early 2026. Other devices, including new Macs, Vision products, and the foldable iPhone, are more likely to be expected in late 2026 or even later.

Specific release dates are not included in the software. Nevertheless, the leak clearly shows that Apple is working on one of the most comprehensive product generations in its history, further developing almost all areas of its ecosystem. (Image: Apple)
