TikTok introduces new AI controls for the "For You" feed

TikTok is expanding its control features in response to the growing amount of AI-generated content on the platform. An increasing number of clips are being created with AI tools, which presents new opportunities but also raises new questions about transparency and user experience. To better manage this development, TikTok is introducing an additional setting that regulates the visibility of artificially generated content in the "For You" feed.

The question of how much artificial intelligence is desirable on social networks is becoming increasingly important. TikTok is among the platforms that want to use AI both creatively and responsibly. A new button in the "Manage Topics" section aims to provide users with a more granular experience. At the same time, TikTok is working on marking AI content to prevent it from being faked. These innovations mark the next step in how TikTok handles AI.

New control over AI content in the „For you” feed

TikTok has announced a new option that will allow users to adjust the amount of AI-generated content in their "For You" feed. The feature will appear in the "Manage Themes" section, which is already used to personalize categories like dance, fashion, sports, news, and health. In the coming weeks, TikTok will add the AI category to this section.

The new setting works via a slider. Users interested in AI-generated clips can increase the percentage and thus see more experimental or automatically created content. Those who feel overwhelmed by the ever-growing AI trends can lower the slider to a lower level and reduce the amount shown. However, complete deactivation is not possible. TikTok emphasizes that AI content will remain part of the feed, but can now be better balanced.

New labeling technology strengthens transparency in AI content

In parallel, TikTok is testing a labeling system for AI-generated content, described as an invisible watermark. The goal of this technology is to reliably identify AI-generated content, even when it is re-uploaded or shared on other platforms. Traditional labels can be easily removed, but the new solution works deeper within the metadata, making it significantly more difficult to manipulate.

This invisible watermark is automatically applied to content created with TikTok's own AI tools, such as AI Editor Pro. It also applies to uploads containing C2PA content credentials. TikTok is using this to ensure that all forms of AI-generated material remain uniquely identifiable in the long term.

These measures reflect a clear strategy. TikTok aims to increase transparency without restricting the creative use of artificial intelligence. At the same time, the "For You" feed will become more personalized, allowing each user to control how much AI influences their TikTok experience. The combination of control features and watermarking is intended to build trust and make manipulative uses of AI more difficult.

TikTok is redefining how AI content is handled.

With its new AI controls and the introduction of invisible watermarks, TikTok is evolving into a platform that combines creative freedom with responsibility. Customizing the "For You" feed gives users more control over how much artificial intelligence influences their content. The labeling technology ensures that AI-generated content remains identifiable in the long term. TikTok is sending a clear message: AI can be a powerful tool, but it needs clear boundaries and transparent structures to enhance the user experience and simultaneously build trust.
