The iPhone Fold is scheduled for release next year and is already considered one of the most exciting devices in Apple's history. Although the current iPhones have only just launched, there are already detailed reports about the design, manufacturing, pricing, and planned launch of the first foldable iPhone.

Apple has been conspicuously reserved when it comes to foldable smartphones. While competitors like Samsung, Huawei, and Oppo have long offered foldables, Apple has stuck with the classic iPhone design. But with the iPhone Fold, that could change. Observers like Bloomberg's Mark Gurman paint a clear picture of what Apple's first foldable phone might look like and when it might be released.

design and materials

The iPhone Fold is designed to look like two iPhone Airs placed side by side. This concept makes the device extremely thin and a design masterpiece. Apple is also using a titanium casing, which will give the Fold not only stability but also a sophisticated look.

Connection between iPhone Air and Fold

There has long been speculation that Apple developed the iPhone Air as a kind of test run for the Fold. The Air's ultra-thin, lightweight design may already hint at the direction Apple wants to take with a foldable model.

Production and location issues

Initial details regarding production have also emerged. According to Gurman , the iPhone Fold will be manufactured at least partially in China. This contradicts reports that production could begin in India. While Gurman emphasizes that it will be manufactured "at least" in China, whether India will actually play a role remains to be seen.

Price in the premium segment

The iPhone Fold will be significantly more expensive than previous iPhones. The starting price is expected to be at least $2,000. Previous rumors even mentioned figures of $2,100 to $2,300. This clearly positions the device in the luxury class and targets buyers willing to dig deep into their pockets for innovation.

Planned market launch

The iPhone Fold is expected to launch in fall 2026, alongside the iPhone 18 series. It is expected to be unveiled in September, although a slight delay to October or November is not out of the question. This approach would be similar to the launch of the iPhone X in 2017, which also went on sale somewhat later.

iPhone Fold as a statement in the premium segment

With the iPhone Fold, Apple is venturing into the foldable smartphone market—a segment previously dominated by other manufacturers. A super-thin titanium design, a connection to the iPhone Air, and a starting price of $2,000 make it clear that this is a high-end device. If Apple sticks to its schedule, the Fold will be one of the most talked-about smartphones of the year by fall 2026. (Photo by seveniwe / Bigstockphoto)
