Apple plans to launch new models of the MacBook Pro, iMac and Mac Mini later this year - all equipped with the latest M4 chips. The new devices are expected to appear before the end of the year, but exact release details remain vague.

According to the report by Mark Gurman (Bloomberg) We are set to see several new Mac models this year that will be equipped with the new M4 series of chips. Previous reports had suggested an October release, but now it is only said that the devices will be released "in the coming weeks" or "this year".

MacBook Pro with M4 chip

Apple plans to release new versions of the MacBook Pro in 14 and 16-inch sizes. These models will be equipped with the new M4, M4 Pro and M4 Max chips. According to Gurman, there will be no major design changes. Newer technologies such as OLED displays or thinner designs are only expected for later models, from 2026 at the earliest. The MacBook Pro series was last updated in October of last year.

iMac with M4 chip

The iMac will also receive an upgrade to the M4 chip. Otherwise, according to the report, no further design changes are planned. The iMac will therefore remain in its current form, only the internal values will be improved. It remains unclear whether the accessories, such as the Magic Mouse or the Magic Keyboard, will also be updated and switched from Lightning to USB-C.

Mac Mini with M4 chip

The Mac Mini could see one of the biggest changes. Gurman expects that this model will not only receive the M4 and M4 Pro chip but will also be redesigned. The design will be much more compact, almost as small as an Apple TV. In addition, the Mac Mini will probably do without USB-A ports and instead be equipped with five USB-C ports, two of which are located on the front. This would be the first major design change to the Mac Mini since 2010.

Apple relies on M4: MacBook Pro, iMac and Mac Mini coming this year

In summary, Apple plans to release new models of the MacBook Pro, iMac and Mac Mini with the latest M4 chips later this year. While the design of the devices is unlikely to change much, the focus is on the performance increase provided by the new chips. The Mac Mini in particular could stand out with its new, more compact design and expanded range of connections. Further details on the exact release and specifications remain to be seen.
