Apple has officially confirmed: Ted Lasso is getting a fourth season. After much speculation, it's clear that the hit series will continue. Filming begins in July. Find out what to expect in the new season, who's returning, and what's already known here.
Since its launch in 2020, Ted Lasso has become a true hit series. The story of an American football coach who, completely inexperienced, takes over a British soccer team captivated viewers with its wit, heart, and a special spirit. It was originally supposed to end after season 3, but now it's continuing.
Filming starts in July
Hannah Waddingham, who plays club owner Rebecca Welton in the series, confirmed in an interview with Capital FM that filming for season 4 will begin in July (via Deadline ). She praised the series' writing team:
Our writers are literally Jedi Knights. We have a whole room full of real feminist men... You really see it in the scripts.
Co-star Brett Goldstein had also recently made similar suggestions. According to Waddingham, it felt like the series had risen from the dead.

These actors are back
In addition to Hannah Waddingham, several familiar faces are returning. Confirmed are Jason Sudeikis (Ted Lasso), Brett Goldstein (Roy Kent), Juno Temple (Keeley Jones), and Jeremy Swift (Higgins). This reunites the core of the series. Whether any other roles will be recast is currently unknown.
What Season 4 is about
An exciting change is coming: Ted Lasso will coach a women's soccer team. This would be a new focus for the series and could bring a breath of fresh air. Jason Sudeikis explained in a press release that the characters in the new season should dare to jump before they look – and land where they belong.
When the new season will be released
A release date for season 4 has not yet been announced. With filming scheduled to begin in July, a release is likely to be in 2026 at the earliest. Apple TV+ has officially announced the new season, so the sequel is assured.
