Apple TV+ is expanding its lineup of original productions and announcing a new documentary series with celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay. Titled "Knife Edge: Chasing Michelin Stars," the eight-episode series will explore the world of fine dining. The series will be produced by, among others, Ramsay himself. An exact release date has not yet been determined.

Apple TV+ continues to focus on strong names and high-quality content. With Gordon Ramsay, the streaming service has brought one of the world's most famous chefs on board. Ramsay is internationally known for shows like "Hell's Kitchen" and "Kitchen Nightmares" and stands for uncompromising quality and high standards in the kitchen. The new series focuses not on Ramsay himself, but on other top chefs – in a very special competition: the pursuit of Michelin stars.

The series at a glance: What is “Knife Edge” about?

In the new series, Apple TV+ follows eight different restaurants and their chefs as they either cook their way to their first Michelin star or do everything they can to keep one they already have. The film was shot in several international cities, including Los Angeles, London, Mexico City, and Copenhagen—all places known for their culinary scenes. A central element of the series is the Michelin rating itself. The chefs know that an anonymous inspector could be in the audience at any time. The Michelin Guide teams travel incognito and test the restaurants under real-life conditions—this creates constant tension in the kitchens. It is precisely these moments that “Knife Edge” captures.

Who is involved?

Gordon Ramsay serves as executive producer. Jesse Burgess, an award-winning documentary filmmaker specializing in food and travel, will host the show. In the announcement, Burgess emphasizes the unique stories of these restaurants and the lengths they go to in order to be among the best in the world. According to Ramsay, a Michelin star is the ultimate goal in the restaurant industry—and the pressure the series' protagonists face every day is correspondingly high.

When does the series start on Apple TV+?

Apple hasn't yet announced a specific release date for "Knife Edge: Chasing Michelin Stars." One thing is certain: The series will air exclusively on Apple TV+.

Real kitchens, real pressure: How Apple TV+ shows top gastronomy

With "Knife Edge," Apple TV+ is launching a new series aimed at anyone interested in culinary excellence. Rather than showmanship and staging, the focus is on the reality of top-class gastronomy. The series documents the everyday lives and ambitions of chefs competing at the highest level. Those interested in culinary art, competition, and authentic stories should find what they're looking for in "Knife Edge: Chasing Michelin Stars." (Image: Apple)
