With the MC03, Punkt. is launching a new generation of its smartphone. The device is aimed at people who want to use their smartphone consciously and retain full control over their personal data. Punkt. thus remains true to its philosophy and clearly positions the MC03 as an alternative to data-driven platforms and traditional app ecosystems.
Punkt. has now officially unveiled the MC03. The presentation will take place at CES in Las Vegas. Punkt. has been considered a Swiss pioneer for years in minimalist, stylish smartphones that prioritize data privacy and conscious usage.
The MC03 is manufactured in Europe and features a redesigned, more sustainable look. It is produced at the Gigaset factory in Germany, a company known for its precision engineering, high quality standards, and durable hardware.
The basic concept of the Punkt. MC03
Like its predecessor, the MC02, the MC03 is a subscription-based smartphone. It provides basic tools and selected apps while creating an environment where the user retains complete control over data access.
At the heart of the device is the AphyOS operating system. It consistently avoids tracking and profiling, removes bloatware, hidden apps, and unnecessary background services, and relies on hardened code. The system is complemented by a bank-grade, security-certified Secure Element that protects sensitive data and makes digital surveillance more difficult.
Two data areas for clear control
A key feature of the Punkt. MC03 is the clear separation into two data areas.
- The first area is called Vault. It is designed as a protected space where only apps vetted and trusted by Punkt. are available. The user interface is clean, minimalist, and designed for maximum privacy.
- The second area is the Wild Web. Here, users are free to install any apps they wish. At the same time, strict and always visible security mechanisms ensure that data flows remain transparent and that data triangulation or unauthorized access is prevented.
Secure services and new partnerships
With the MC03, Punkt. is further expanding its own secure smartphone ecosystem. Existing partners like Threema remain integrated into the Vault. A new addition is the collaboration with Proton. The Vault now offers services including:
- Proton Mail
- Proton Calendar
- Proton Drive
- Proton VPN
- Proton Pass
These applications are integrated in such a way that data exposure and tracking are kept to a minimum. Proton and Punkt. pursue a common approach: independence, Swiss tech tradition, and the principle that control over data remains with the user.
App Hub and transparency in apps
The MC03's App Hub offers two different app stores. Firstly, there's a store curated by AphyOS and Punkt. featuring privacy-friendly applications. Secondly, access to all common apps can be enabled if desired. This decision rests entirely with the user and is always transparent.
The system is complemented by the so-called Ledger. This allows the privacy of each individual app to be controlled. Additionally, Ledger includes a carbon reduction function that provides insights into the energy impact of installed apps.
Hardware and technical equipment
In addition to the software concept, Punkt. relies on high-quality and durable hardware for the MC03. Features include:
- a 120Hz OLED HDR display
- a replaceable 5200 mAh battery
- IP68 water and dust resistance
- a 64 megapixel main camera
The integrated VPN Digital Nomad remains part of the system and protects connectivity and privacy even when you're on the go.
Price, subscription and availability
The MC03 is offered at a price of 699 CHF, US dollars, or euros. Included is a 12-month subscription to AphyOS by Apostrophy. After this period, a paid subscription is required. The following options are available:
- a monthly subscription for 9.99 CHF, US dollars or euros
- a 3-year subscription with a 45 percent discount
- a 5-year subscription with a 60 percent discount
The MC03 is available for pre-order now. Delivery in Europe begins at the end of January 2026, followed by North America in spring 2026.
Punkt. MC03: Security and control as the starting point for every decision
With the MC03, Punkt. continues its consistent approach, combining data protection, security, and modern hardware in a clearly structured smartphone concept. Privacy is not an add-on, but the starting point for every decision. The well-known principle applies here as well: if you're not paying for a product, you are the product. With the Punkt. MC03, you consciously pay for the protection of your own data. (Image: Punkt.)
