Apple raises $3 million to fight AIDS

Last holiday season, Apple once again conducted a fundraising campaign, raising several million dollars for the fight against AIDS. The campaign was closely linked to Apple Pay and demonstrated how everyday purchases can contribute to funding global health programs. The final amount has been clearly quantified and officially confirmed.

Social responsibility has been part of Apple's corporate strategy for many years. Particularly in the health sector, Apple supports international organizations through targeted campaigns and long-term partnerships. The current Apple Pay campaign is part of a series of similar initiatives that regularly take place around World AIDS Day.

This is how the Apple Pay promotion worked

From November 28 to December 7, Apple donated $5 for every purchase made with Apple Pay. The promotion applied to purchases on Apple.com, in the Apple Store app, and in physical Apple Stores in the US and other countries. The goal was to raise a significant amount of money for charity through numerous individual transactions.

Apple had limited the fundraising campaign to a maximum of $3 million from the outset. This maximum amount was fully reached. This means that Apple customers, through their purchases, collectively raised the maximum possible donation amount.

Confirmation by the Global Fund

The Global Fund announced this week that its Apple Pay campaign raised a total of $3 million. The Global Fund works worldwide to combat HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis, and malaria, particularly in developing countries. The funds raised will support programs that provide prevention, medical care, and education.

Funding for life-saving programs

The donations collected by Apple are used for health programs that have been proven to save lives. These include access to medication, testing, and prevention measures. These funds are especially important in regions with limited medical infrastructure to help curb the spread of HIV and AIDS.

Long-standing collaboration with (RED)

Apple has supported the Global Fund for many years, including through its partnership with (PRODUCT)RED. In the past, iPhones, accessories, and other products in (PRODUCT)RED colors were regularly offered, with a portion of the sales proceeds being donated.

Since the introduction of the iPhone 14 models in 2022, Apple has no longer offered iPhones or accessories in (PRODUCT)RED colors. Despite this, Apple continues to collect donations every December to mark World AIDS Day, including through limited-time campaigns such as the current Apple Pay initiative.

Over $250 million in 19 years

The scale of this commitment is further illustrated by another figure. In the 19 years of its partnership with (RED), Apple has raised a total of more than 250 million US dollars for the Global Fund. This makes Apple one of the most important private supporters in the international fight against AIDS.

Another milestone in Apple's social commitment

Apple Pay's holiday campaign demonstrated the effectiveness of simple, time-limited donation models. With $3 million for the Global Fund, Apple continues its long-standing commitment to the fight against AIDS and builds on past successes. The campaign seamlessly integrates with Apple's strategy of providing regular and measurable support for global health programs. (Image: Apple)
