With macOS 26.4, Apple is preparing the next update for macOS Tahoe. Besides system improvements and new emoji characters, this version primarily brings new wallpapers to the Mac. These are wallpapers that were originally introduced alongside the new MacBook Neo.
These designs are available for the first time on all supported Macs with macOS 26.4. The update is currently in beta and is expected to be released at the end of March.
At the MacBook Neo launch, Apple also presented new marketing wallpapers that are coordinated with the laptop's color options. Such wallpapers are often part of product presentations and emphasize the design of new devices.
With macOS 26.4, Apple is now making these wallpapers available for other Macs as well. This means they are no longer exclusive to the new notebook.
New MacBook Neo wallpapers
The MacBook Neo is available in four colors:
- Silver
- Blush
- Citrus
- indigo
To coincide with this, macOS 26.4 introduces four new wallpapers. These are named:
- Mac Purple
- Mac Blue
- Mac Pink
- Mac Yellow
The designs feature colored gradients and clear shapes in typical Apple style.
Where to find the background images
After installing macOS 26.4, the new wallpapers are located directly in System Preferences. They can be selected under Preferences → Wallpapers → Images.

No additional download is required.
Further changes in the update
In addition to new wallpapers, macOS 26.4 also brings new emoji characters and minor system improvements. Such additions are typical for macOS mid-release updates.
Release of macOS 26.4
macOS 26.4 is currently in beta. The final version is expected to be released at the end of March and can then be installed via regular software updates.
