Three Apple Originals are on the list for the 2026 Gotham Television Awards – with prominent names in front of and behind the camera.

Apple TV continues its winning streak this awards season. Just days after its success at the 2026 Peabody Awards and its News & Documentary Emmy nominations, it has added another industry accolade to its list. The Gotham Film & Media Institute today announced the nominees for the 2026 Gotham Television Awards – and Apple TV appears six times. Three original productions take center stage, underscoring how consistently Apple is focusing its streaming strategy on award-winning content.

Three Apple Originals in the running

The six nominations are spread across three different Apple TV productions: Pluribus, Margo's Got Money Troubles, and Mr. Scorsese. Each of these series is competing in a different category – a testament to the breadth of Apple TV content, which is increasingly being recognized as artistically high-quality.

Pluribus enters the race with three nominations:

  • Breakthrough Drama Series
  • Outstanding Lead Performance in a Drama Series — Rhea Seehorn
  • Outstanding Supporting Performance in a Drama Series — Karolina Wydra

Margo's Got Money Troubles receives two nominations in the comedy categories:

  • Outstanding Lead Performance in a Comedy Series — Elle Fanning
  • Outstanding Supporting Performance in a Comedy Series — Michelle Pfeiffer

Mr. Scorsese completes the list with a nomination:

  • Breakthrough Nonfiction Series

An impressive list of awards

Apple points out that the current nominations build on a string of past successes at the Gotham Awards. In 2025, The Studio won the award for Breakthrough Comedy Series. In 2022, Pachinko was honored with the award for Best Breakthrough Series – Long Form. Perhaps Apple TV's greatest success came in 2021: The later Oscar-winning production CODA won two Gotham Awards – including the Breakthrough Performer Award for Emilia Jones and the award for Best Supporting Performance for Troy Kotsur.

This string of successes demonstrates that Apple TV's success at the Gotham Awards isn't a fluke, but rather a systematic production of top-tier content. Pluribus is currently one of the most talked-about series of the year – a fact reflected in its prominent triple nomination. The close collaboration with Vince Gilligan, the creator of Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul, has once again paid off for Apple TV.

The awards season is in full swing

Apple TV has been on an awards spree for weeks. As we previously reported on its double win at the 2026 Peabody Awards, the streaming service recently took home two awards. It also received nominations in the News & Documentary Emmy category in early April – particularly for its six-part Vietnam documentary series. Today's Gotham nominations make it clear: Apple TV is successfully continuing its strategy of producing prestigious original content.

The timing is also interesting. Just a few days ago, Apple launched a large-scale survey on content strategy and sports for Apple TV to better understand subscriber preferences. At the same time, the company announced the return of Ted Lasso for a fourth season starting August 5th. Apple TV is thus positioning itself on two fronts simultaneously: artistically ambitious and with a broader commercial reach.

When will the award ceremony take place?

The Gotham Television Awards 2026 will be presented on June 1, 2026. Until then, the nominees will compete in several categories for the final awards. The Gotham Awards are considered an important indicator for the later season of the Emmy and Golden Globe ceremonies – those who excel here often have a good chance of success there as well.

Apple TV at the Gotham Awards – the most important points at a glance

Apple TV has received six nominations at the 2026 Gotham Television Awards. Pluribus leads the list with three nominations, followed by Margo's Got Money Troubles with two and Mr. Scorsese with one. The gala will take place on June 1, 2026. With this result, Apple TV continues its strong awards history – and underscores that the streaming service delivers high-quality original content beyond its well-known flagship shows.
