Apple will present several research papers at the 2025 International Conference on Computer Vision (ICCV). The conference, which will take place from October 19 to 23, 2025, in Honolulu, Hawaii, is one of the most important international events in the field of computer vision. It brings together academia and industry to discuss advances in visual AI. For Apple, this participation is an opportunity to showcase its own developments in computer vision and multimodal models.

Apple has been working for years to not only incorporate artificial intelligence into its products, but also to advance it at the research level. Its participation in ICCV 2025 demonstrates the company's strong scientific focus. The focus is on how machines can better perceive and understand the world—across text, images, and video.

Eight research papers from Apple

Apple will present eight research projects at the ICCV, covering various aspects of modern AI. Topics range from text-to-video models and spatial 3D understanding to multimodal diffusion systems and image processing using generative models. Some contributions address scaling laws for large models, others focus on benchmarks for interactive digital agents or new methods for open image segmentation. What all approaches have in common is that they aim to make AI systems more flexible, understandable, and more application-oriented—that is, systems that not only process data but also respond in a context-aware manner.

Keynote and other participations

In addition to the research work, Dr. C. Thomas, Applied Research Manager for Machine Learning at Apple, will deliver a keynote speech at the 3rd Workshop on Vision-based Industrial Inspection (VISION). The presentation will take place on Sunday, October 19. The topic is yet to be announced but will focus on applications of visual AI in industrial processes.

Apple is also participating in the "Women in Computer Vision Workshop." Researchers Patricia Vitoria Carrera and Tanya Glozman will serve as mentors. The meeting will take place on Sunday, October 19, and is intended to strengthen the exchange and advancement of women in AI research.

Significance of the ICCV for Apple

The ICCV is held annually, alternating with the ECCV, and is one of the most important international conferences in the field of computer vision. For Apple, it provides a platform to present current research and promote exchange with the scientific community. The company thus demonstrates that basic research is an integral part of its innovation strategy—and not merely a means to an end.

Apple strengthens its position as a research driver in AI

With eight presentations, a planned keynote speech, and participation in workshops, Apple underscores that research is more than just a fringe topic for the company. The presented work demonstrates the intensive work being done on new concepts for machine vision, multimodal models, and generative systems. This involves not only technical advances but also the responsible use of artificial intelligence. Apple thus remains one of the most important players in how AI understands, sees, and acts in the future. (Image: Shutterstock / Wright Studio)
