Apple is celebrating its 50th anniversary with a series of international events. The celebrations kicked off in New York and are now continuing in China, underscoring Apple's global presence and the significance of this milestone.
Although Apple traditionally looks more to the future than to the past, the anniversary on April 1st will be consciously commemorated. CEO Tim Cook published an open letter entitled "50 Years of Thinking Different" to mark the occasion.
In it, he picks up on key statements by Steve Jobs and puts the people behind Apple at the center: employees, developers, and customers. Their ideas, their trust, and their stories are highlighted as crucial to the company's development. At the same time, the well-known message is reinforced that those who think differently can bring about real change.
Kick-off of the celebration in New York
The anniversary celebration kicked off on Friday at the Apple Store in Grand Central Terminal in New York. The event featured a live performance by singer Alicia Keys.
With this combination of store event and music, Apple is aiming for an experience that goes beyond mere product presentation and emotionally charges the brand.
Continuation of the celebrations in China
The next events are planned in China, specifically at the Apple Store Taikoo Li in Chengdu. Images have already been on Chinese social media showing the construction of a stage in front of the store.
The event is expected to feature a performance by the well-known Chinese artist Chris Lee. Apple is thus deliberately focusing on local artists and directly addressing the regional market.
Presence of Apple leadership
The company's leadership is also part of the celebrations. Deirdre O'Brien has already been spotted in China, both at the Apple Store Nanjing East in Shanghai and on Apple's official Douyin account.
She is expected to attend the event in Chengdu. There are also rumors of a possible attendance by Tim Cook and other executives, but confirmation is still pending.
Global focus of the anniversary
The choice of New York and China clearly demonstrates that Apple is staging its anniversary celebrations internationally. Through events, live music, and the involvement of executives, the brand is being made visible worldwide.
