Nintendo introduces a new Store app with a brilliant additional feature

Nintendo Store App iOS

Nintendo has released a new store app for iPhone and iPad. For the first time, this provides a native way to access the My Nintendo Store's product range and personal features via iOS devices. The app expands upon the existing web access with practical features – including one that will be particularly interesting for long-time fans.

Previously, access to the My Nintendo Store on iOS was via a browser. While functional, this wasn't particularly convenient. Now, the official Nintendo Store app offers an alternative, specifically designed for mobile use. It combines the product catalog, user account, notifications, and a review of past playtime – all in one place.

All products at a glance

The app makes it easy to browse Nintendo products. These include consoles like the Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2, games in physical and digital formats, accessories, and merchandise. Other selected products from the Nintendo universe are also available.

Purchasing directly within the app is currently not possible. When an item is selected, the user is redirected to the official Nintendo webshop, where the order process is completed. The focus is therefore on clarity, information, and user-friendliness while browsing – not on a complete in-app purchase process.

Review of gaming activities

A key feature of the app is access to your personal game history. After logging in with your Nintendo account, you can view your game activity on Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2. Furthermore, you can access archived data from older consoles: all playtime recorded up to February 2020 on the Nintendo 3DS and Wii U is also available.

This feature is especially aimed at users who want to track their gaming history or simply know how many hours they've invested in specific titles. For many fans, this is a valuable extra that was previously only available to a limited extent or not at all on mobile devices.

Wishlists, notifications and current news

The app also allows users to add products to a personal wish list. Push notifications can be activated when an item on the list is discounted or becomes available again. This makes it easier to find deals and popular products.

In addition, the app provides up-to-date information on Nintendo games, upcoming releases, and official events. Push notifications help keep users informed. This makes the app not only a shopping aid but also a comprehensive source of information about Nintendo.

Availability and international launch

The Nintendo Store app is available for free on the App Store. At launch, it is available in numerous regions, including the USA, Canada, Mexico, Brazil, Japan, and many European countries, including Germany. In Japan, the new app replaces the previous My Nintendo app, which had been in use since 2020. With this move, Nintendo is following the trend of consolidating mobile services and making them more consistent across platforms.

Compact Nintendo experience for on the go

With the new Store app ( download link ), Nintendo offers a valuable addition to its existing website. The app isn't just a sales platform; it combines shop functions, user information, and personalized content in a compact format. Access to historical gameplay is a particularly unique feature that should appeal to many fans. Anyone immersed in the Nintendo universe will find this a practical tool for on-the-go use – clear, up-to-date, and available free of charge.
