Apple has unveiled a new intro video for Apple TV – featuring music by Finneas. The short but striking piece will accompany all future Apple TV content and simultaneously symbolizes the relaunch of the streaming service. With this update, Apple officially bids farewell to the name Apple TV+ and adopts the simpler name Apple TV.
The new intro video marks a significant step in Apple's strategy to simplify and streamline the streaming experience. It also showcases the high level of design precision that Apple employs. Finneas, musician, producer, and multiple Grammy winner, composed the music and offered fascinating insights into the creative process in an interview with Variety . He revealed that three different versions of the intro were created—all minimalist, but each designed for different purposes.
Three versions of the Apple TV intro
According to Finneas, there are three versions of the new Apple TV intro. Each was developed for a specific context in which it is used.
The main version is five seconds long and plays before episodes of series or other Apple TV Originals. It is designed to create instant recognition without being intrusive.
In addition, there is a short version lasting only one second. This is used, for example, when trailers are playing or the Apple TV logo is briefly displayed. Despite its brevity, the sound remains clearly recognizable as part of Apple's identity.
The third version is the theatrical version, lasting approximately twelve seconds. This version is shown before Apple Original films that premiere in theaters, such as productions like Killers of the Flower Moon. Finneas describes it as more cinematic and with a slightly larger sound, as it has more space and time to unfold.
All three versions follow the same minimalist approach. The sound is clear, understated, and precise – typical Apple.
The creation of the intro
Interestingly, the animation of the intro was created first. Finneas was then able to develop the music based on it, which helped him to perfectly synchronize the rhythm and movement of the logo with the sound.
Finneas originally wanted to create several music versions to give Apple a choice. However, during the process, he decided to develop only a single version that he felt best suited the new brand image.
In the interview with Variety, Finneas also mentioned that Apple had discussed the future of Apple TV early on. The focus was on simplification – both in the name and the overall look and feel of the service. The new intro and the redesigned logo are the first visible step in this realignment.
Apple TV will be simpler
The rebranding of Apple TV+ to Apple TV is not just a cosmetic change. It signals the company's desire to position the brand more clearly. While the change was announced several weeks ago, it is now fully implemented – on the streaming platform itself, on the website, and with the update to iOS 26.1.
The new intro is a key part of this transition. It is intended to represent the brand consistently – regardless of whether content is played on an iPhone, a television, or in a cinema.
The new intro serves as an acoustic business card for Apple TV
With the new intro video and sound design by Finneas, Apple is making a clear statement about the new brand identity for Apple TV. Three different versions cover all areas of use, from TV series and trailers to feature films. The combination of minimalist animation and precise sound design is representative of Apple's style: understated, elegant, and unmistakable. The intro is not only an auditory trademark but also the prelude to a clearer, more unified future for Apple TV. (Image: Shutterstock / Tinseltown)
