A few days before the official launch of the iPhone 17 series, leaks surrounding accessories and design are piling up. The clear case for the iPhone 17 Pro is currently receiving a lot of attention. According to reliable information, the protective case, which has traditionally been one of Apple's standard accessories, is set to receive some visible changes – both functionally and visually. Leaker Majin Bu provides concrete clues.
The iPhone 17 is about to launch, along with a host of new accessories. In addition to silicone cases with carrying straps, a new TechWoven material, and crossbody straps, a new transparent case for the iPhone 17 Pro is also expected. Unlike previous versions, Apple is said to have made improvements and experimented in several areas this time around – including with design variants that deviate from its previous strategy.
Design changes to the iPhone 17 Pro Clear Case
The back of the new transparent case for the iPhone 17 Pro will apparently no longer be completely transparent. Instead, a semi-transparent back is used, with a striking white area that stands out clearly from the rest of the material. Integrated into this is an Apple logo, which, according to the leak, was strategically placed to create a balanced look. Compared to the previous clear case for the iPhone 16 Pro, this represents a clear design change. The previous solution was almost completely transparent, with only the MagSafe area discreetly set off. The new version appears more deliberately designed, possibly also with the aim of distinguishing itself more clearly from inexpensive cases from other manufacturers.
Support for crossbody accessories
Another change concerns compatibility with additional accessories. The new case will have two cutouts on the bottom designed for attaching carrying straps or a crossbody strap. This feature may seem inconspicuous at first glance, but it could make a difference, especially in everyday life—for example, at events, traveling, or when combined with fashionable accessories. This adjustment fits well with Apple's current focus on personalization and lifestyle-oriented features.
Tinted versions planned
In addition to the standard semi-transparent version, Majin Bu also reportedly tested tinted versions of the Transparent Case for the iPhone 17 Pro. While it's unclear whether these will be available immediately at launch, they haven't been ruled out. It's conceivable that Apple will offer such versions seasonally or in limited editions. Tinted cases could particularly appeal to users who value customization but still prefer a semi-transparent design.
Apple's accessory strategy for the iPhone 17
The information about the new case fits into a larger picture. It had already been announced that Apple intends to focus more on new materials, expanded functions, and modular accessories for the iPhone 17. Silicone cases with eyelets, high-quality TechWoven textures, and new strap systems indicate that Apple sees the accessories for the iPhone 17 not just as a protective solution, but as part of the overall product. The big Apple event is scheduled for September 9th. The slogan "Awe dropping" suggests a confident product lineup. Four new iPhones, at least two new Apple Watches, and possibly new AirPods Pro are expected. Even though accessories usually play a supporting role, the iPhone 17 Pro Clear Case could attract more attention than usual with its changes.
