2025 is already halfway over, but Apple still has plenty planned for the second half of the year. According to current information and rumors, the company plans to launch more than 14 new products – from new iPhones to Mac updates to home accessories. So things are getting exciting for Apple users.
Apple traditionally releases many of its major products in the fall. This year, too, there are many indications that September and October will be important months again. These include new devices in the iPhone 17 series, fresh Apple Watch models, new chips for Mac and iPad, and updates for home products.
iPhone 17: Four models for different needs
The iPhone 17 series consists of four models:
- The iPhone 17 is expected to be similar in design to the iPhone 16, but with a larger 6.3-inch display. It will feature the A18 chip, an improved 24-megapixel front-facing camera, and possibly a 120 Hz display.
- The iPhone 17 Air is a new, ultra-thin and light model with a 6.6-inch display. It features the A19 chip, 12 GB of RAM, a 48-megapixel main camera, and a 24-megapixel front camera. It is equipped with a single speaker and will reportedly offer an optional battery case.
- The iPhone 17 Pro comes with a new camera design, three 48-megapixel cameras, an aluminum frame, the A19 Pro chip, and 12 GB of RAM. A new cooling system that can dissipate heat better will likely also be installed.
- The iPhone 17 Pro Max offers the same features as the Pro model, but has a slightly thicker case to make room for a larger battery.
Apple Watch: Three new models expected
Three new models are also planned for the Apple Watches:
- The Apple Watch Ultra 3 is expected to be the first to support 5G and satellite communications, allowing you to send text messages even without cellular or Wi-Fi reception. It will likely also feature a new S10 chip, faster charging, and an improved OLED display.
- The Apple Watch Series 11 will receive minor hardware upgrades, including the new S11 chip. Major design changes are not expected, as these were already introduced with the Series 10.
- The Apple Watch SE 3 could be getting an update after a long hiatus. Rumors of a plastic case with bright colors have since been quashed. However, it should still be a solid upgrade, as the last SE version dates back to 2022.
New devices with M5 chip
Apple's new M5 chip will be used in several devices this year. Major design changes aren't expected, but performance will increase significantly.
- The iPad Pro is expected to be equipped with the M5 chip.
- The Vision Pro headset is also expected to get the new chip.
- The iMac is updated, also with the M5 chip.
- The Mac mini will be available in versions with M5 and M5 Pro chips.
Updates for Apple TV, HomePod and AirTag
In addition to the large appliances, there are also some innovations in accessories and home products:
- The fourth-generation Apple TV 4K will feature a new Apple-designed Wi-Fi and Bluetooth chip. It will likely support Wi-Fi 6E or even Wi-Fi 7. A faster chip than the current A15 Bionic is also expected.
- The second-generation HomePod mini receives an internal upgrade with a modern wireless chip and improved audio quality.
- The new AirTag (2nd generation) is said to have up to three times the range. The speaker has also been redesigned to prevent tampering—a step against unwanted tracking.
More products that may come
Some devices are rumored to be in development, but it is not yet certain whether they will be released this year.
- The AirPods Pro 3 could feature a new design and better active noise cancellation. However, the timeline is unclear—there are indications of a possible market launch in 2025 or 2026.
- The Studio Display 2 with mini-LED backlighting is also in the works. It is expected to be released in late 2025 or early 2026 at the earliest.
- The Apple Home Hub is a potential new product for the smart home sector. A device with a display—similar to a HomePod with an integrated iPad—is conceivable for controlling HomeKit devices, for FaceTime, and with new Siri features. Whether it will be unveiled this year remains to be seen.
When will the products be presented?
Most devices are expected to be unveiled in September or October – as is usual at Apple's big fall events. However, individual products could also be released at shorter notice or via press release.
