The Apple Vision Pro is an impressive piece of technology that offers a lot of possibilities. But what if you want to share your headset with a friend or family member without putting your personal data at risk? That's where Guest User Mode comes in. Below, you'll learn how to enable Guest User Mode and ensure your data stays protected.

Apple has decided against implementing user profiles on the Vision Pro. However, the company wants to ensure that you can easily share your device with others. Guest User Mode is the perfect solution for this. However, before you pass on your headset, there are a few important steps you should keep in mind.

Set passcode

Before you enable Guest User Mode, you need to make sure your device is protected by a passcode. If you haven't set a passcode yet, follow these steps:

  • Open the settings on your Vision Pro.
  • Navigate to “Security”.
  • Set a passcode.

Enable guest user mode

To enable Guest User Mode and grant access to a friend or family member, follow these steps:

  • Close any apps you don't want your guest to use.
  • Open the Control Center.
  • Select the Guest Users button in Control Center.
  • Tap “Allowed Apps”.
  • Choose between “Open apps only” or “All apps and data”.
  • Tap the back button.
  • Tap Start and hand the headset to the guest user.

use by the guest user

After you enable Guest User Mode, your guest user will be prompted to complete a hand and eye setup. This ensures that the device is optimally tuned to the new user.

protection of your data

Apple states that sensitive data like Apple ID and Wallet are not available in guest user mode. However, some apps like Photos may still be visible if left open, so it's important that you close any apps you don't want the guest to see.

Additional tips

To better guide your guest user, you can enable screen mirroring on an iPad, iPhone, or Apple TV set-top box so you can observe the process and assist if needed.

Guest User Mode: Securely Share Your Apple Vision Pro
