The iPhone 17e could represent a significant improvement for Apple. A new report suggests that the upcoming model addresses one of the biggest criticisms of its immediate predecessor. This concerns a feature that many consider standard and whose absence in the iPhone 16e caused considerable confusion.

The Information published a detailed report today on Apple's future iPhone strategy. It includes new details about the iPhone 17e, expected to be the more affordable model in the iPhone 17 lineup. Several rumors about its features and design have circulated in recent weeks. This latest report adds a crucial point that will likely be of particular interest to many users.

MagSafe is expected to return on the iPhone 17e

According to the report, the iPhone 17e will receive MagSafe support for the first time. This would be a clear departure from Apple's decision with the iPhone 16e. While the iPhone 16e supported wireless charging via the Qi standard, it did not include Apple's proprietary MagSafe standard.

This resulted in specific limitations. Without MagSafe, the iPhone 16e was not compatible with magnetic accessories. Chargers didn't hold reliably and didn't offer the same charging quality as with other current iPhones. This was a significant disadvantage, especially for users who already owned MagSafe accessories.

With the planned integration of MagSafe in the iPhone 17e, Apple is apparently specifically addressing one of the most frequent complaints about the previous model.

Other expected new features of the iPhone 17e

Besides MagSafe, previous rumors point to several other upgrades. The iPhone 17e is expected to receive a front camera with a center-stage function. This automatically adjusts the framing during video calls, ensuring the person remains the focus.

A Dynamic Island display and thinner bezels are also expected. This would bring the design closer to that of higher-priced models. Inside, the new A19 chip is expected to power the device, promising improved performance and efficiency.

This combination of modern technology and revised design suggests that Apple wants to significantly upgrade the iPhone 17e without pushing it out of the attractive price segment.

Importance for price-conscious buyers

With the return of MagSafe and new hardware features, the iPhone 17e is evolving into a significantly more balanced device than its predecessor. Many features previously only found in more expensive models could now be available for the first time in a more affordable iPhone.

The combination of the A19 chip, center-stage camera, Dynamic Island and MagSafe creates a complete package that should be of interest to many users who are looking for a current iPhone but don't want to go for the Pro model.

Apple responds to key user criticism with the iPhone 17e

Should the information in the report prove true, Apple is correcting one of the most controversial decisions of the iPhone 16e with the iPhone 17e. The planned MagSafe support closes an important gap and meaningfully complements the already anticipated improvements. The iPhone 17e could thus become one of the most attractive options within the upcoming iPhone generation.
