Whether the images are authentic is unclear. However, the details shown largely correspond to previous rumors surrounding the iPhone 17 Pro Max.

Metal-clad battery for better heat dissipation

The most striking element in the images is a battery encased in a metal casing. This design is intended to help dissipate heat more efficiently. Apple already uses a similar technology in the iPhone 16 Pro, while the standard versions of the iPhone 16, iPhone 16 Plus, and iPhone 16 Pro Max continue to feature batteries with black foil covers. According to the leaked information, there will be two battery variants. Models with a physical SIM card tray, which are primarily sold outside the US, will use an L-shaped battery. Devices without a physical SIM slot, such as those sold in the US, will use a rectangular battery.

Simplified repair options

Another point concerns the battery's attachment. Similar to the batteries in the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus, the adhesive that secures the battery to the casing is said to be able to be released using a low voltage—such as a 9-volt battery or other power source. This technology could facilitate repairs and improve replaceability. Well-known leaker "Majin Bu" assumes that Apple will retain this method for the iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max.

Larger camera curvature
