Apple Vision Pro 2 rumors

The announcement of the first Apple Vision Pro has thrilled the tech world. There is now initial concrete information about the second generation of the mixed reality headset: the Apple Vision Pro 2. According to Bloomberg reporter Mark Gurman, the device is expected to hit the market between fall 2025 and spring 2026.

Apple is known for not just releasing technology products, but perfecting them down to the last detail. With the Vision Pro 2, it seems as though Apple still has a lot planned. Since the release of the first model, the development of the M-chip has accelerated enormously, which puts the Vision Pro 2 in a whole new light. This second generation is not only said to be significantly more powerful, but also to offer some exciting software updates that could improve the experience even further.

Release date: When will the Apple Vision Pro 2 be released?

Loud Gurman The Apple Vision Pro 2 is expected to be launched between fall 2025 and spring 2026. This forecast is in line with previous reports, but is somewhat less optimistic than initially assumed. This means that Apple is letting almost two years pass since the release of the first Vision Pro, which suggests that there will be significant innovations. Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo believes that Apple has decided against a cheaper version of the Vision headsets for the time being. Instead, the company is focusing on a high-quality update of the existing product line in order to further consolidate its market position in the premium class.

Technical upgrades: M5 chip for more performance

A key upgrade of the Apple Vision Pro 2 is the inclusion of the new M5 chip. While the first Vision Pro was equipped with the M2 chip, the new model is designed to take advantage of the enormous performance improvements of the M5 chip. This means more speed, greater efficiency and improved graphics performance - all important factors for augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality (VR), which require intensive processing power. The M5 chip could make the Vision Pro 2 more powerful and durable without appearing outdated immediately after release. Apple plans to release the Vision Pro M5 chip in a similar time frame to the M5 Mac devices to bring the headset up to date.

Design: Continuity in appearance

Visually, the Apple Vision Pro 2 will hardly differ from the first model. According to Gurman, Apple has currently not planned any significant changes to the external appearance. Instead, the company is focusing on technical innovations on the inside. This approach fits in with Apple's general strategy of maintaining an established design and continuously improving internal technology. The almost unchanged design allows Apple to invest resources in improving performance and seamless integration of software and hardware. Users can look forward to a familiar look combined with new, powerful functions on the inside.

New features in visionOS 2.2 and display options

Another big innovation concerns the software. Apple recently released the beta of visionOS 2.2, which offers some interesting display options. New additions include wide and ultra-wide displays for virtual Mac screens, which are particularly useful for multitasking and immersive applications. This feature is particularly exciting for users who want to use the Vision Pro as an extension of their Mac setup and need a realistic virtual environment. The focus on software improvements shows that Apple plans to keep the Vision Pro attractive and up-to-date via software updates, even if there will be no cheaper hardware variants for the time being. These software innovations are intended to keep the Vision Pro series competitive and improve the user experience.

Design remains, technology grows: Vision Pro 2 as a powerful successor

The Apple Vision Pro 2 will score points primarily through technical upgrades and stronger software, while the design will remain largely the same. By using the new M5 chip, the device will be more powerful and more durable than its predecessor. The decision against a cheaper version indicates that Apple wants to consistently develop its premium product. The combination of improved software functions and a powerful processor makes the Apple Vision Pro 2 an exciting successor. For users who are looking for maximum performance and immersive options, this model could be a worthwhile investment in the future of augmented reality. (Image: Apple)
