Anapa, Russia - October 4, 2019: Woman holding iPhone 11 with social networking service WhatsApp on the screen. iPhone 11 was created and developed by the Apple inc.

WhatsApp is developing a "disappearing mode," a kind of self-deleting mode that focuses on chat privacy. This feature is not yet available to the public.

According to WABetaInfo, WhatsApp is developing a new feature for iOS. If a user activates the Disappearing Mode, messages within a chat are deleted as soon as the recipient has read them. The blog writes:

Today we're announcing a feature called Disappearing Mode! If you value your privacy, disappearing messages are the right feature for you. You can enable it in the contact info and group info, but you may need to enable it manually when a contact starts a new chat with you.

WhatsApp: New tool for voice messages and more

Once this feature is available, users will need to open the Privacy section in WhatsApp settings and then turn on the Disappearing Mode feature.

The feature is probably called "self-delete mode" in German, like Facebook Messenger, as it offers a similar feature. This function allows the chat history to be deleted after the user has viewed it. This is one of the few measures that WhatsApp takes in terms of privacy. In addition to this expansion in the area of privacy, the company is working on other functions, including a sticker suggestion function and a tool for voice messages. The migration of chat histories between iOS and Android should also be possible at some point. (Photo by Denys Prykhodov / Bigstockphoto)
