Now that the two new 35-watt dual USB-C power adapters introduced at WWDC are available to order, Apple has released a new support document describing how power is split when devices are connected to both ports.

In most cases, the 35 watts are divided equally between the two connected devices. Exception applies if one of the devices has a relatively low power requirement, such as an Apple Watch or an AirPods case.

  • If you connect a Mac notebook and an iPhone or iPad, each device will receive up to 17.5W.
  • If you connect an iPhone and an iPad, each device will receive up to 17.5W.
  • When you connect a Mac notebook or iPhone and an Apple Watch or AirPods, the Mac notebook or iPhone gets up to 27.5W and the Apple Watch or AirPods gets up to 7.5W.

New Apple Dual USB-C power adapter will also be included with the new MacBook Air

The standard version of the dual USB-C adapter is available worldwide and features a detachable connector head for compatibility with international connector heads and extension cables.

The compact version is only available in the US, Canada, China, Japan, Mexico, and some other countries that use the Type-A connector. Both versions cost $59 in the US. The new adapters will ship with the higher configurations of the new MacBook Air, which will be released next month. Those who want to purchase the accessories separately can do so from Apple for 65 euros from now on. (Image: Apple)
