Apple released the third beta of macOS Catalina 10.15.3 on December 17, 2019. Now, evidence of a "Pro Mode" for MacBooks has been discovered.
The US blog 9to5mac has a feature in the current macOS beta – macOS Catalina 10.15.3 – discovered, which suggests a kind of "Pro Mode" for MacBooks. According to this, Apple could give MacBook users the ability to increase the notebook's performance—at the expense of battery life, of course. According to the code, the fan speed limit could be removed. This would lead to an increase in performance, which would naturally reduce battery life. While the system could run faster, the fan noise would also be louder. But for power users, the feature could actually be useful. Currently, macOS has various limitations, including fan speed.
“Pro Mode” in macOS 10.15.3 can be activated manually
The advantage is longer battery life and a quieter fan. However, this comes at the expense of performance. A "Pro Mode" could temporarily squeeze out even more power, which wouldn't be a bad thing in some scenarios. This could significantly accelerate certain workflows—for example, rendering. According to the code, "Pro Mode" can be manually activated at any time—but it automatically shuts off at night. Apple's planned release date for the final version of macOS Catalina 10.15.3 is not yet known. However, the update should be released by WWDC 2020 at the latest.
