After numerous rumors, Apple has now announced the new MacBook Pro 16″ presented – the biggest innovation is the new Magic Keyboard. Phil Schiller has now also commented on the new keyboard technology.
In an interview with CNET, Apple's Vice President of Worldwide Marketing, Phil Schiller, spoke about the MacBook Pro 16" - specifically the new Magic Keyboard. According to Schiller, the plan is to offer the new keyboard as an option for Pro customers. This means that the butterfly keyboard will not be completely discontinued. He told the broadcaster:
"The butterfly keyboard had some things it did really well - like creating a much more stable key platform. It felt flatter and more solid under the fingers - some people really like that but other people weren't really happy with it. We got mixed reactions," he continued. "We had some quality issues that we needed to work on. Over the years we've evolved the keyboard and made a lot of people happier."
However, he also emphasized that some users simply prefer the technology of the well-known Magic Keyboard - these are mainly pro users. Apple therefore decided to develop a new keyboard based on the well-known Magic Keyboard for the MacBook Pro. This is therefore based on the well-known scissor mechanism. But that does not mean that Apple will completely discontinue the butterfly keyboard. According to Schiller, this will continue to serve as an alternative for the time being. The Touch Bar was also mentioned in the interview. Many customers are said to particularly like it because of its versatility. But despite everything, there was one major point of criticism - the missing physical ESC key. With the MacBook Pro 16", that is now changing again - Apple has brought back the ESC key, to the delight of many fans. The new MacBook Pro 16" can now be pre-ordered - the starting price is around 2,799 euros. The device will be delivered from November 26th. (Image: Apple)
