Some MacBook devices with Retina displays have had problems with the anti-reflective coating in the past. Now the MacBook Air is also said to be affected.

A new MacRumors According to reports, Apple has provided an internal memo to service partners addressing issues with the anti-reflective coating on MacBook Air models. It states:

Retina displays on some MacBook, MacBook Air, and MacBook Pro computers may have issues with the anti-reflective (AR) coating.

Apple's internal service documentation has so far only mentioned MacBook Pro models and individual 12-inch devices. But now there is also talk of the MacBook Air. The small notebook has had a Retina display since 2018.

repair program active since 2015

However, the problem has not yet been publicly confirmed. The repair program for defective anti-reflective coatings was originally launched in 2015 after individual users complained about problems with MacBook and MacBook Pro models. However, the repair program has never been published on the support page to date. The list of qualified devices is kept internally. It remains to be seen whether Apple will make the whole thing public. Since the error is already being communicated internally, users of an affected MacBook Air device will most likely receive a free replacement.
