Last year, Apple decided to let the iPad go its own way and introduced iPadOS 13. The new iPad operating system is basically the counterpart to iOS. Now there is a first look at iPadOS 14.
What innovations could iPadOS 14 have in store for us? A question that is difficult to answer – but there are initial clues. The iOS 14 preview, which the US blog 9to5mac currently has access, reveals new features in the area mouse support. Accordingly, extensive system-wide support for mouse cursors is to be introduced. This means that under iOS 14 or iPadOS 14, mouse support will not be a by-the-way feature but an integral part. It will also offer all cursor functions that a desktop also supports.
References to two new Smart Keyboard models
According to the code, however, the cursor is not displayed continuously. This means that if the mouse is not moved, the system hides the symbol - it appears again as soon as the mouse is moved. New Mac-like gestures are also said to be among the innovations, including tapping with two fingers for a right click. In addition to the extension, two new Smart Keyboard models were also discovered. This makes indications that at least one model should have an integrated trackpad clearer. According to the iOS 14 code, the trackpad could have haptic feedback. Since iOS 14 contains two Smart Keyboard model names, it can be assumed that the iPad Pro will not be the only one to receive the new features. But we can only speculate about that at the moment.
