While rumors about iPhone, iPad, and the like have become commonplace, reports about upcoming Apple Watch models are in short supply. But now there are indications of two new features that will emerge from iOS 14.

Rumors about the next generation Apple Watch and the next watchOS – in this case watchOS 7 – are a real rarity. But the US blog 9to5mac has something to report on this topic. According to the leak, the well-known Apple blog has received an exclusive look at an iOS 14 preview, which reveals two new Apple Watch functions. According to the leak, Apple is working on new health functions. According to initial information, the Apple Watch 6 under watchOS 7 could measure oxygen saturation in the blood for the first time. The ECG function should be updated.

Oxygen saturation – a watchOS 7 feature?

The feature can be found in the iOS 14 code snippet. But will it be an Apple Watch 6 function? 9to5mac notes at this point that it is not yet known which hardware is required for such a feature. It is possible that this function will also appear for the fourth and fifth generation Apple Watch under watchOS 7. The already integrated heart rate sensor would be used for this. The measurement of oxygen saturation should basically run in the background. If the Apple Watch detects bad values, it alerts the user.

The exclusive iOS 14 code snippet also reveals a second innovation - the further development of the well-known ECG function. It is not clear whether the feature requires new hardware or just software to update. But the new version should deliver even more precise results - according to 9to5mac. Whether the two functions will actually be introduced in the end remains to be seen, of course. But there have already been several speculations that Apple wants to penetrate further into the healthcare sector. So this would fit the picture. In addition to the features mentioned above, the company has been working on a sleep monitoringThis was first revealed in iOS 13 – this feature is also expected in watchOS 7. (Photo by Denys Prykhodov / Bigstockphoto)
